Stripe account doesn't show in the list of accounts when creating rules (edited)

I receive transactions via a Stripe Account and can split, categorize, tag, etc…. but when I try to create a rule, the Stripe Account does not show in the list of Accounts that the rule could apply to. (I want to limit the rule to just the Stripe account)

Thanks for bringing this up. The reason Stripe isn't appearing as an option when creating a Transaction Rule is that Stripe isn't added to Quicken Simplifi as a separate account. Instead, Stripe is a service that is activated within Quicken Simplifi, so there isn't a standalone Stripe account available to select when setting up a rule.

Because of this, creating a rule specifically for the Stripe service isn't currently supported.

I hope this helps clarify why Stripe isn't appearing in the account list.

While I appreciate the technical explanation and it makes sense, it does not make sense from a functional perspective. Stripe is an account like any other financial account for small businesses. The business receives income there, pays financial institution (processing) fees there - all in the form of transactions, and also sets parameters around how often and where to sweep account balances into another financial institution account - daily / weekly / monthly and so on.

With Stripe being a primary account where both Income and Expense transactions are realized, it takes away the beauty of the Simplifi rules engine and demotes Simplifi into a pretty spreadsheet. Please consider this for an enhancement.

And a follow-on question: Does this mean if the stripe account were ever to be closed, that all my transaction (income and expense) data would disappear? Are those transactions not stored in Simplifi because it is just a "service" in quicken and not an actual account? This is extremely dangerous for small (and large) businesses to possibly lose those records. Please clarify - this is a significant issue if it does work that way. (What else can you tell us about "activated within Quicken" vs being a "separate account"? Thanks.

Thanks for bringing this up. We confirmed with our Product Development team that Stripe is not currently supported as an account that can be selected when creating a Transaction Rule. Stripe is activated as a service within Quicken Simplifi rather than being added as a standalone account, which is why it does not appear in the account list when setting up a rule.

If you would like to see Stripe supported with Transaction Rules in the future, we recommend creating an Idea post in the Community so other users can vote on it as well. You can find more information on creating and voting for Ideas here:

Regarding closing or disconnecting the Stripe connection, Stripe isn't a "direct" account in Quicken Simplifi, but that doesn't mean the information you've already received from Stripe will be removed. Disconnecting an account, for example, keeps the historical transactions while disconnecting it from the financial institution or service provider.

@CoachAldair, additional question: Is the ability to create transaction rules for Investment account transactions a similar (or identical), or completely separate issue? The rules engine is so powerful - it would be great to use them to rename Payees in the investment transaction list so we don't see dozens to hundreds of payess that vary by a character or two, ie:
Interest Payment - Money Market Account 12345 123 - Apye .10%
Interest Payment - Money Market Account 12345 123 - Apye .12%
Interest Payment - Money Market Account 12345 123 - Apye .11%
Interest Payment - Money Market Account 12345 123 - Apye .09%

This Idea covers the ability to use transaction rules with investment account transactions, which would be related to the Payee-renaming example you described. We recommend voting on the Idea so the Product team can see the additional interest in this functionality.
