When a transaction is split, Simplifi allows each split to have its own category, tags, Client/Project, amount, and note. However, the note entered for an individual split does not appear in Spending Reports. The Notes column is blank for those split transactions, even though the split-level note displays correctly in the Transactions view.
This is particularly important for business users who allocate a single purchase among multiple clients or projects. For example, I may make one purchase containing items for several different properties. Each split is assigned to the appropriate Client/Project, and I use the split-level note to identify exactly what was purchased for that property.
I need to provide each client with an expense report showing:
Date | Payee | Category | Note/Description | Amount
The Spending Report already does almost everything needed: it can be filtered by Client/Project, grouped by category, provides category subtotals, and can be printed or saved as a PDF. But because it does not carry the split-level note into the report, the client may see only something like “Amazon – $13.77” with no indication of what the expense was for.
The split-level notes do appear correctly in Transaction Activity and in a Transactions CSV export when Show Split Transactions is enabled, so the information is already stored in Simplifi. It just isn't being included in the printable Spending Report.
Please add support for displaying the individual split-level Note in Spending Reports. This would make the existing Clients/Projects and split-transaction features much more useful for client expense reporting.
