Morgan Stanley/Smith Barney accounts have incorrect balances, market value, and holdings data

Hello,

I have several accounts with MSSB. I had originally had issues with Simplifi automatically connecting with this institution so I created manual accounts for them. I got tired of having to enter everything so I created new accounts (through the add account routine). It saw all the accounts, so I selected the link to existing accounts for each. After updating, it has removed all securities I had set up and all balances are 0. Completely messed things up. Is there a fix for this?

It would be helpful to know the name of the bank itself; searching "MSSB" in Quicken Simplifi didn't return any results. It would also help to know which account types are affected by the $0 balance. For example, if the accounts are all investment accounts, it would make sense that the market value in the Portfolio is $0 since there are no holdings and the Portfolio derives its value from the holdings (the missing holdings would be an issue on its own).

However, if investment accounts show a $0 balance in the Accounts List (this is the list of all accounts and balances on the left side of the dashboard on the Quicken Simplifi web app, or the list of all of your accounts when you select "Accounts" from the Quicken Simplifi mobile app), that would be an incorrect balance being provided by the bank.

Or, if the accounts with a $0 balance are regular bank/credit accounts, such as checking or credit cards, the $0 balance may be due to pending transactions, and we have a help article that covers troubleshooting these types of balance discrepancies.

MSSB is Morgan Stanley/Smith Barney. All of the accounts (5 of them) that I have are investment accounts that have various stocks and funds. Some of the accounts are retirement (IRAs and Roth), and some are investment (FMA, etc.).

As I stated, I had all of these accounts set up manually with all of their holdings and had been entering transactions (manually). Now after going through the process of linking them to the bank, the manually entered transactions appear to still be there, but all of the stocks and funds are gone. The "Portfolio" page is empty for each of the accounts. In the accounts list on the left side of the dashboard the accounts are there, but the value that is reported is the cash amount that is in the accounts and does not reflect the values of the stocks and such. Which makes sense because Simplifi doesn't report that I have any stocks or funds in these. It appears that Simpli is not getting that information from Morgan Stanley.

Based on what you've provided, you are experiencing two distinct issues with these investment accounts in Quicken Simplifi:

The balance in the Accounts List is incorrect.
The Portfolio view is missing holdings data and therefore has an incorrect market value.

With that, I'm not seeing any additional troubleshooting steps for either issue, since the bank connection is brand new.
