Spending Report categories shows an ATM cash withdrawal as positive - expected? (edited)

When reviewing the Top Spending categories from the Dashboard, my graph seems to contain something erroneous.

Among the reported categories is Cash & ATM. I recently withdrew a sum by ATM which I categorized appropriately for a certain planned expenditure I ultimately did not make. I proceeded to redeposit those funds along with some additional cash from a "mad money" jar that had accrued over time.

This causes the overall total for Cash & ATM to be a positive number rather than a negative, yet the graph and ranked list of categories continue to reflect it as an overall expenditure.

Is Simplify handling this properly?

I'm not familiar with the graph problem, but it sounds like your ATM figure may be artificially inflated. Here's what I mean:

It sounds like you categorized the withdrawal using the expense category for the expenditure (like "Shopping" or whatever).

When you changed your mind about the expenditure and redeposited the withdrawn funds, did you use that same expense category for the redeposit (i.e., "Shopping")? Or did you categorize it as "Cash & ATM"? (I assume you would split the "mad money" into a different category.)

If you treat the redeposit like a refund and categorize it like the initial (aborted) expense, it should will counterbalance the initial transaction and make your "Shopping" (or whatever) category better reflect your actual spending (and also avoid inflating the "Cash & ATM" category).
