The payee renaming process is over-shortening. Names are very hard to identify, requiring lots of extra clicks & review during transaction review. Please reduce the agressiveness of string shortening on Payees.
Hi @Jaylonious,
Thanks for sharing your feedback! I can understand how having payee names shortened too aggressively can make transactions harder to identify and add extra work during transaction review.
Could you please attach a screenshot showing an example of the payee names being shortened? This will help us better understand what you're experiencing and determine whether this is expected behavior or if there are any troubleshooting steps we can try.
Thanks!
Here you go. In all cases, multi word payees were shortened to single words like Bank, Wild, Glacier. Makes it difficult to know what the actual transaction was without clicking into details.
Thanks for providing the examples! I can see how shortening multi-word payees to generic terms like “Bank,” “Wild,” or “Glacier” makes transactions more difficult to identify.
Could you please check whether you have any Transaction Rules set up that might be renaming these payees? To do so, click the Settings (gear) icon in the upper-right corner of the web app, then select Rules. Look for any rules that include the affected payees and use the Rename Payee action.
If you find any relevant rules, please try editing or temporarily disabling them to see if that makes a difference. If there are no relevant rules, please let us know so we can investigate further.
