Help migrating Discover account to Capital One (edited)

Hi Coaches,

On Oct 19, 2026, Discover credit cards will transition to the Capital One website.

In order to preserve my transaction history on my discover credit card, I'm thinking the cleanest approach will be to:

Make my discover credit card connection manual.
Reconnect to financial institution Capital One and link the new connection to my manual connection which has all the transaction history.

Please let me know if that's the best approach or if you have a better suggestion.

Hi @Oogway,

Your proposed approach sounds reasonable for preserving your transaction history! However, I'd recommend waiting until the migration is complete and third-party access has been authorized by Capital One before attempting to reconnect your account in Quicken Simplifi.

In the meantime, you can switch your existing Discover account to manual mode by following these instructions: Switch a Connected Account to Manual Mode.

Once the migration is complete and Capital One is available for connection, you can reconnect and link the new connection to your existing account to preserve your transaction history. For instructions, see How to Link Accounts.

Hi Coaches,

Well today was the day for the switch and I followed the above steps and my new connection seems to be working. However I have what looks like two orphan entries in my list of Settings → Accounts. See the "Capital One" and "Discover Card" entries at the bottom of this screenshot, below my list of manual accounts.

Meanwhile my new discover card connection looks perfectly fine here:

When I click the ellipsis near the orphan accounts I get the following options:

If I click delete institution so I get rid of this orphan connection, it prompts me with:

Should I go ahead and click delete? Or will I lose some transaction data if I do?

The issues are now resolved.

The orphan Capital One link disappeared on its own.

And I deleted institution on the orphan Discover link and it disappeared. And I did not lose any data or transaction history.

Three duplicate transactions showed up tonight. They were flagged to be reviewed. I noticed they were duplicates so I deleted them manually.

Yep, that's what I do when I get duplicates. Glad you got everything resolved.
