Open question about categorizing insurance.

By default, Simplifi categorizes insurance expenses like Homeowner's Insurance premiums as a sub-category of Home expenses, Auto Insurance premiums as a sub-category of Auto & Transportation expenses, Health Insurance as a sub-category of Health and Life insurance as a sub-category of Financial expenses.

Realizing that the possibilities are as varied as the number of Simplifi users, I'm interested to know whether people use Simplifi's suggested hierarchy or if they categorize all types of insurances under an Insurance category.

I immediately deleted and rearranged my categories when I started with Simplifi to mimic the ones I have in Classic.

It so happens that I do classify auto insurance as an auto expense (others being gasoline, maintenance, licenses) and house insurance as a home expense (others being hardware, supplies, upkeep, utilities, etc.). I put medical insurance under Healthcare (others being physicians, prescriptions).

My life insurance when I had it was a subcategory of concomitant expenses, those that cross categories. Others include sales tax, fees, presents, apps)

So I guess I more or less endorse the defaults that Simplifi includes.

For the record, here are my categories:

Automobile, Concomitant, Healthcare, Home, Personal (Food, Clothing, Spending, Sundries), Professional (travel, meals, education), Recreation (Activities, Entertainment, Alcoholic Beverages, Restaurants and Sightseeing) & Tribute (Federal Income Tax, Tithes, State Tax)

It's a work in progress. I am debating putting Sales Tax back under State taxes but I only pay this when I buy things so it is concomitant for now.

I keep things pithy. I want one word, two at most for my categories, which is why I am so irritated with Simplifi's insisting on a Taxes category with an undeletable category Federal Income Tax Payments, which is too long. No where in QS is this used so Why is it there?!?

I just use Payments under Federal Income Tax.
