Lost credit card carries balance to a new card number - how to setup? One acct or two?
Hi, we lost a credit card and had a replacement with a different credit card number sent to us and with the balance due transferred to the new card.
How should this be set up? As one account with two credit card numbers that are linked somehow? Or, two accounts with two credit card numbers, but then how to handle the balance that gets transferred?
Thanks much!

Hello @jkhy,
Thanks for posting your inquiry to the Community!
@RobWilk is correct — you'd want to reset the connection for the existing account, and then link it to the new account. This is outlined in our Support Article here:
Link a New Account to an Existing Connected Account
A time may come when you're presented with the need to re-link existing accounts in Simplifi. This could be because we need to re-establish a connection with your bank or if you need to link a new credit card number to an existing connected credit card account.
If you're not automatically prompted to reconnect your new account, you'll want to reset the connection for the financial institution by following the steps listed here. Once the new account is presented as available to add, you'll want to carefully link it to the existing Simplifi account by following the steps here.
However, it sounds like you are now dealing with a duplicate account. There is not currently a way to merge two accounts in Simplifi, so you'll want to follow the steps here to resolve the duplicate account. The steps will include deleting the newly added duplicate account so you're left with just the original existing account. Once done, you should be able to reset the connection for the original account and follow the steps above to link the new account to your existing Simplifi account.
Please let us know how it goes!

I would leave your existing account in place, then 'reset' the connection to the bank (if necessary) and when your new account number comes up "Link" that to your existing account (since it is the same account, but new number) that will keep all transactions together for that account. If your account name has the wrong account information on it, you can rename it i believe to edit the details.

Thanks, Robert. Right now I have two separate accounts I'm trying to merge into one, preferably without resetting the connection to the active account as I've had issues with duplicate transactions when I reset connections that makes a big mess. It's prob a user error issue, but it's making me cautious about resetting connections. Is there a "link" option that you know of for 2 existing accounts without resetting the connection?

Not me, but others here may know of one… If not, @Coach Natalie (the closest thing to official support here) will probably be here tomorrow and may have a better answer. You could always try Chat support too, during Chat support hours. Some have claimed you can get phone support with some effort, but again probably during business hours. I think coach natalie is here from around 10a-7pm eastern time (my local time) but I think technically they're 2 time zones over so it's probably 8-5 their time.
