Savings Goals > By Account Oddity.

On the Desktop App (3.81.0), when viewing Savings Goals > By Account, last week I only had three (3) accounts listed. Now today it looks like there are a whole bunch of individual Savings Goals - not actual accounts - that have appeared.

Some odd things that might help track it down: With Vacation SG, (A) I had deleted it some time back - or possibly renamed it to "~ST: Vacation *SG>2233" (B) There is $0 saved in it.

In fact, scrolling through them, it appears that all the mystery SG that appeared on the 'By Account' tab are old SG's that I've either deleted or possibly renamed. And, all of them show the some available amount under "Unknown Goal" and $0's in the blue box.

There's nothing immediately odd about Mobile although it doesn't appear to have any 'By Account' option.

    How weird, @Flopbot!

To clarify, do you see any issues with the Savings Goal amounts displayed in the Accounts List? And to confirm, these Goals aren't listed on the 'By Goal' page at all, right? Have you tried taking a look from a different browser and/or in incognito mode, by chance?

Please let us know so we can best assist!

    @Coach Natalie ,

For all these mystery accounts that appeared, they all show $0 in the blue box and an amount is listed under "Unknown Goal". I also still see the three (3) original accounts listed under "By Account" and the amounts displayed there appear to be accurate.

None of the mystery goals are listed on the "By Goal" page at all - unless they have been renamed to a new goal name on that page. I can't remember that far back!

They also show up in Chrome Incognito.

Did this answer all your questions?

    Hello @Flopbot,

Do you see these erroneous accounts listed in your Accounts List (the list of all your accounts on the left-hand side of the Web App Dashboard)? I just want to confirm that the only place you're seeing this is the Savings Goals > By Account page.

I think we'll most likely need to get this reported. To do so, please provide the following information:

    1. A couple of additional examples with screenshots.
    2. The browser and browser version you're accessing Simplifi from.
    3. The OS of the device you're accessing Simplifi from.

Please also submit your logs and sanitized dataset using the 'Send Feedback' option:

    1. Log into the Simplifi Web App.
    2. Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
    3. With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback
    4. Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    Thanks!

@Coach Natalie , I turned in this report.

I do not find any of these errant Savings Accounts listed on my Account list on the dashboard. I also do not find them listed at Settings > Categories & Tags > under the Tags section. Reminder that a new tag is automatically generated here for each new SG - I'm not sure why.

    On the By Goal page…

    I have these Savings Goals.

    • ~ST: Vacation *SG>2233
    • ~ST: Computer Replcmnt *SG>2233
    • ~ST: Home Maintenance *SG>2233
    • ~ST: Zoo Membership *SG>2233
    • ~ST: Appliance Replcmnt *SG>2233
    • ~LT: For Giving *SG>4293
    • ~LT: Taxes (Undecided) *SG>4293
    • ~ST: Homeschool *SG>2233

    On the By Account page…

These are the errant Savings Goals.

Like I said, it could be that I just renamed all these in the past instead of creating brand new Savings Goals. I'm not 100% sure. However, all these screenshots should not be showing up on the By Account Page. I should only see these three on the By Account screen.

Note that - for example - the ~ST: Computer Replcmnt *SG>2233 is on the SAV 2233 screenshot and does have money saved under it. Best I can tell, the Savings Goals related to these last three screenshots appear to be working normally on both the By Account tab and the By Goal Tab.

Let me know if you need any more screenshots.

If it helps at all, I'm seeing something similar on this screen, except my goals aren't necessarily deleted (the ones that are showing 'by account' as accounts). 1. Microsoft Edge Version 115.0.1901.188 (Official build) (arm64) 2, MacOS Ventura 13.4.1 laptop

For example, I have this under the "by account" option:

But under by Goal that is:

Note that $131 is not the same as $83.07

    Hello @RobWilk,

Thanks for contributing to this topic, although I'm sorry to hear that you're also seeing an issue with the Savings Goals > By Account page in Simplifi.

To clarify, was "12/23 Costco Renew" also an account that you had added to Simplifi? It's a little confusing, as the 'By Account' page is supposed to list the names of accounts, not Goals. @Flopbot, are the examples you provided deleted accounts or Savings Goals? I assumed they were accounts based on how the page is supposed to read, however, now I'm not so sure.

@RobWilk, do you see this issue with any additional accounts/Goals on the 'By Account' page? If so, are you just seeing the issue with completed Goals specifically? Any help in narrowing things down would be wonderful. 🙂

@Coach Natalie , all my errant ones were Savings Goals when I first created them…not accounts (real world or manual).

    1. It was not an account I created, though I suspect goals are somewhere treated as virtual accounts. It was not (to my awareness) a deleted savings goal, it was active.
    2. There were additional goals listed under by account. There were a total of three goals in this state. One may have been deleted and recreated under a new name. It's "possible" the other two were deleted and recreated in the past, but i don't remember.

I would be willing to 'submit feedback' without using the option to hide names in the data, if that would help someone look at it.

I forgot to add: All of my savings goals are completed, except maybe one which is my only long term artificial goal. That goal was among the three that were included.

    Hi all.

@Coach Natalie I'm seeing the same thing when I click on the "By account" tab.

I do see my bank accounts with a breakdown of the amounts being held for my various active goals. But I also see a number of Savings Goals listed s if they are actual bank accounts.

I have 7 active SGs all listed in the "By goal" tab:

    1. Vacation 2023
    2. Home, Auto, RV M/R
    3. Health Care
    4. 2023 Non-Monthly Fixed Expenses
    5. Surprise & Miscellaneous
    6. Emergency Fund
    7. 2023 Birthdays & Christmas Gifts

On the "By account" tab I see these accounts:

    1. 2023 Birthdays & Christmas Gifts
    2. Surprise & Miscellaneous
    3. Our Savings 8486 (Real world bank account)
    4. Vacation 2023
    5. TnD Checking 1623 (Real world bank account)
    6. Surprise 7 Miscelanious (This SG doesn't exist - Either I corrected the typos for the existing SG with correct spelling or I changed it completely to the existing SG "Emergency Fund" since that is the only SG not listed here but is listed on "By goal" tab)
    7. Home, Auto, RV M/R
    8. Health Care
    9. 360 Performance Savings (Real world bank account)
    10. Synchrony HYS (Real world bank account)

    Hello @RobWilk & @DannyB,

Let's get both of you added to the ticket as additional reporting users so I can bump up the priority and bring it to the attention of our Product Team. 🙂

To do so, please provide a few examples with screenshots. @RobWilk, your screenshots above are perfect — can you send a couple more examples? Can you both also outline where you think each example Account/Goal came from to the best of your knowledge, whether it was a deleted Goal, a renamed Goal, or a completed Goal, etc., just like you've both done above; we just need a screenshot for each example with an attached description.

    Thanks!

    @Coach Natalie

I submitted my logs and sanitized dataset per instructions at 9:54AM, 8/2

    Requested Screenshots

This is the "By goal" screenshot. These are all my currently active savings goals.

Now for the "By account" tab:

In the following screenshots, you will notice two currently active SGs and one of our bank accounts, in this case, our primary bank's Saving account.

Another active SG and our primary bank's checking account…

The SG listed next "Surprise 7 Miscelanious" is full of typos and I either corrected this SG to "Surprise & Miscellaneous" or changed it completely to "Emergency Fund" as seen in the first screenshot of my "By goal" tab. Otherwise the remaining accounts are SG, SG, real world savings account at a secondary bank. There is one more real world savings account at another secondary bank that is not pictured and I can add it if needed.

The top 3 :are the funny ones

HOME/Cash/CasinoP - now called "Future Home"/Car/Cash Bucket - may or may not have been deleted (and recreated) or renamed.

12/23 Costco Renew was the example I gave

12/23 Hershey Renew AP - This one might've been deleted when I wasn't sure I was going to renew (I'm still not sure) but I ultimately decided to keep the money aside so may have recreated it…

IF you can read it, the last one, CHASE SAVINGS has all of my goals completed except for "Future Home"/etc.

A bit more info on The Oddity. I appears that my "Emergency Fund" SG is the renamed "Surprise 7 Miscelanious" SG or at that's what is indicated in the screenshot below. I have no clue what this might have to do with The Oddity if anything, but you asked for a much info as possible.

In goals when switching to the By Account view I see individual goals listed. 3 accounts have savings in them and they are listed and appear to be correct. The software is treating each goal as a separate account with an unknown goal.

There is also a "Custom" account with an unknown goal and dollars assigned. I do not have an account or goal named Custom.
