Quarterly or Annual view of Spending Plan and/or Watchlist?

Is there a way for me to see in a single view (not tabbing through the months) how I'm doing on my Spending Plan or Watchlists over time?

I'd love to have a comparison on the Reports->Spending view (actual expenses to Spending Plan and/or Watchlists) where I can see how I'm doing over a longer timeframe than one month. Or a multi-month view that was incorporated into the Spending Plan and/or Watchlists.

Basically, it's about having a customizable budget cycle for the spending plan, so you can set it for every 2 weeks, every 12 months, etc. It doesn't exist yet, I'm not sure it has enough votes to be considered.

@RobWilk Interesting idea! I'm fine with the Spending Plan being divided by calendar months, but cfields idea might get me the same sort of reporting info (how did I do over the last X months on meeting my spending plan or watchlists?).
