Support multiple currencies

I use QS to track accounts in both USD and CAD. It's functional, but the figures in most reports and in the account list are misleading. I always have to mentally convert the currencies to really understand how things are going. And I have to make manual adjustments whenever I transfer funds from USD to CAD accounts, or vice versa.

Still, QS should be careful about which displayed amounts they convert and which ones they don't. The bills I pay out of my Canadian accounts are denominated in CAD and I need to see those transactions (and the balances available to pay them) in CAD as well. They should match what I see on my Canadian bank website.

I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but I think that any report, etc. that involves only CAD accounts should display as unconverted CAD. Only those that contain multiple currencies should display converted amounts (and we should be able to choose the default currency).

I keep track of multiple currency already, only need ability to automatically maintain balance in a single currency at mid market rate updated daily. Custom account types by currency also would be beneficial.

This feature would make the app so great. Numbers are misleading otherwise. 😕

I just switched, after 30+ years, from Quicken Classic to Quicken Simplifi. Still in trial, but looking good, though adjustments required. One key adjustment is managing foreign accounts. QC does this very easily, but QS does not even have a basic feature. Until this is done, is there a work around?

    • is there a way to do a negative amount in an investment?
    • can a single investment account be used to aggregate the adjustment (ex: done manually monthly or quarterly )?

I currently use a Liability account as a negative to balance Net Worth, but this is very limited and does not reflect proper values in Investments or Retirement.

The enhancement request is management of foreign exchange, ideally automated, or at least manual. Until this is done, which I hope sooner than later, a proper workaround would be appreciated by the Quicken team.

    Thank you for the consideration.

I find simplifi the easiest to use and most full featured product, but the lack of multi-currency support has me looking at other options. This is a significant issue, and needs to be solved or you will continue to lose users

If you read any investment advice column in the US today, even those for unsophisticated investors, they recommend investing a percentage in assets outside of the US market. Multi-currency is the norm, not the exception for US residents with investments today.

I have resisted upvoting this, but I think it is probably inevitable that Simplifi will have to do it. Of course, if you use it in Canada and only have Canadian Accounts, it doesn't matter. It only matters if you mix them with "foreign" accounts.
