Public API (edited)

This one is finally getting my "vote". I see a lot of people with good arguments for it, and at this point the features I personally considered higher priority than this are mostly done, so I'm good with being 1 out of (now) 80 votes supporting this.

+1 —— Product designers (myself among them) can never foresee all the complexities of real life. Steve Jobs originally thought an iPhone app store was pointless. A public API allows the tailoring of this awesome software to the realities of individual and family needs - and over time will show Quicken many feature enhancements it might not have considered. Please consider this one.

Being able to code directly from my data is very attractive for more complex projections

I would love a public API! I use quicken to manage my household and being able to add additional features myself would be awesome!

Want public API too for editing imported transactions. Mainly i want to automate the process of reading my bank statement and update my transactions with more accurate catagoery and more detailed notes/descriptions.

+1 - a must have feature for any data rich application.

+1. I'd love to add a tile to a smart mirror, so my wife and I can keep daily tabs on spending without having to log in.

I would also like to have an API where I could use a Python script to grab my account balances . Legacy apps used TIller or Mint and we could grab those balances into Excel for other purposes. PLease consider….
THanks

+1 for adding a public API support for automation with softwares like Zapier.

+1 to a public API. Theres a lot of value that could be added to simplifi by third parties, e.g., to help people better classify their transactions, to improve cash based transactions, and many other things.

+1 on this idea. If Simplifi offered the public API, it would GREATLY set this budgeting tool apart from the competition. Public API access isn't just for power users, as it leads to an ecosystem of dependant tools at which all rely on one core product: Quicken Simplifi. This is an obvious choice for the Simplifi team, and if they can't make it work under the current monthly subscription plan, let me pay you $0.05 per API call to cover the cost. People will pay for this automation.

+1 on this from me

+1 on this from me. I'd love to be able to take photos of my receipts send them to chatgpt to itemize them, then use the results to update transactions with itemized expenses. The only blocker is the lack of a public api.

Would love a public API for automatically adding receipt details and splits to transactions from Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc. that sell a variety of items. Would also be nice to implement my own automatic transaction and account reporting from institutions that will realistically never get added to simplifi

Agreed on being able to pull transaction data via API. I love the spending plan functionality of Simplifi for in-month tracking, but bigger picture reporting and spend analysis is a weakness of the product. Being able to extract the data more easily to create custom reports would make me stop looking at other options.

this would be a game changer for Simplifi, and i get it you have to put guard rails in place when you open source an api or someone will hit your back end and bring the place down but this can be done. Start small and make the data accessible or allow some minimal amount of functionality with guardrails and see what the development community can do to boost your functionality.

+1, having a public API will greatly streamline automation and make it easier to generate custom projections and reports for retirement planning and investment management.

considering the age of this request, this is likely to never happen, but:
PLEASE!!!
If fundamental features like "Tag Rules" are not going to be added, could we at least have an opportunity to do it ourselves?0 -
Quicken a while ago lost a good chunk of my data and they could not retrieve it. Even the backup they offered was dated and incomplete. I did originally opened this thread because of the shortcomings and wanted to script it. I ended up moving to [removed] due to no api, website latency, loss of data and terrible customer service.
Sadly they never got this done. [removed] doesn't have an official api but some folks have made some projects that work with it.0 -
