Entering negative number

I'm trying to enter year end balance adjustments for my accounts that are under 'Cash and Checking' but no matter what I do the balance shows up as negative. I've tried entering the adjustment as income, balance adjustment, uncatagorized using positive and negative numbers but the balance always shows as negative.

Kids category is set as Expense or Income?

Can you post a screenshot of what you experienced? Are these accounts manual or connected?

I want this entry to be a withdrawl from a savings account (-5000) but Simplifi wont accept a negative number.
