why is projected cash flow not accurate? (edited)

I am brand new to Simplifi and still trying to figure out how to use it after 18 years using Quicken Classic.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to view my ACTUAL balance on any given account. Our income and expenses are all over the place and I have a long history of bouncing things so I have to keep a VERY close eye on what I actually have available to me. It's extremely easy for me to overdraw my account so this is absolutely CRUCIAL for me.

This is what I'm looking at today in the projected cash flow:

First of all, I just updated the paycheck amount to be closer to accurate ($818 instead of $600), and no amount of refreshing is changing that number there.

Secondly, this is all inaccurate for TODAY. That paycheck won't be hitting my bank account until Thursday. And those bills…the city bill is auto deducted around the 28th of every month so I have no idea what that is doing there…T-Mobile is the 6th of every month, so again, why is it showing? and on and on…none of those bills are hitting today, most not even close to today…or are long past, so WHY are these showing here?

This is so completely inaccurate for a current balance it's not even funny.

    1. When you edited your paycheck, did you edit the reminder or edit the series? It makes a difference which you did.
    2. Those bills showing there may be IN THE PAST and by that i mean you did not delete or match past transactions, so it's presuming you still need to pay them.

For the in the past transactions, to just delete the reminders, look for them underneath that chart in the bills & payments section (which used to more accurately be called upcoming) and select the menu on each one and select delete reminder.

Also…why is that scrolling bar at the bottom showing so many past transactions?

Because you haven't matched them *(linked transaction to recurring bill) or deleted them, but you had them scheduled.

I edited the reminder, not the series.

    How do I match them?

Ohhhhhh I think I figured out how to match them! THANK YOU! (To remind myself in the future or to help others….click the 3 dots on a transaction and then there is the option to "link to transaction".)

So this is just like in Classic, isn't it? Where we had to download the transactions but then match them to the scheduled bills? I wasn't sure it worked like that in Simplifi, but if that's just like in Classic, I totally understand how this works! Yay!

So does Simplifi not automatically link to transactions or is this just a case of some that they missed? Classic still does that to me a lot too, so I'm familiar with having to double-check everything. Is this a situation where Simplifi is very similar to Classic?

It matches automatically when downloaded if it can, but if you enter manually. You need to match manually.

Sometimes it matches automatically, sometimes it doesn't. I think it's supposed to "learn over time" so hopefully if you link some manually, eventually you won't have to. I tend to check for the little icon next to those transactions when they download, and also if I see a bill listed as Past, but I know I paid it, I'll go link the transaction so it doesn't throw off my cash flow.

what do I do if the matching transaction doesn’t show when I try to link them? I see them in my register but they are not showing in the options to link?

it’s already linked to the series, but it still shows as “past”. The 2 transfers.

Transactions will show as past when they are linked with a pending status to the series. After the transactions clear, the status will change to paid. I see this behavior with my Wells Fargo account and I take it as normal.

Only ignore bills marked as past if the transactions corresponding to the bills are in the account register in pending state. If the transactions are not downloaded from the bank or entered manually, the bills are not paid.

In my experience, if it's marked past, that means it was not linked, and you can manually link from the transaction to the reminder which will remove the 'past' mark. This is regardless of whether it is manual or automatically entered, and whether pending or not.

my issue is that the transaction that it would match with is not showing up as an option to link to.

It sounds like you're trying to link -from- the reminder, [removed - accuracy]. You have to link from the transaction and it should let you select any reminder to link it to. [removed - accuracy]
