Issue with auto-categorization of Venmo account based off of name
My last name is similar to a category or sub-category (like 'Lawrence' for 'Law', 'Gymothy' for 'Gym', Petricia for 'Pet', etc…)
Venmo transactions look to be auto-categorizing by my last name. I have not spent $11,000 on laundry in the past few years, but every time I try resetting the transaction, it is autocorrecting my name (even in the payee field) from my actual name, and then auto-categorizes it. is there a way to resolve this?

@ghin, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
In order to better understand the issue, we'll need to see specific examples of what you're referring to. Since it sounds like the examples will expose personal information, such as your last name, you might consider contacting Chat or Phone Support instead of the Community so you can engage in a private session.
Otherwise, please confirm whether the transactions are downloaded or manually entered and if you perhaps have Transaction Rules set up that could be causing the behavior. We'd also need to see the Transaction Detail view for a few example transactions that show the Date, Payee, Amount, and "Appears on your statement as…" info.

They are automatically entered.
Really, the only thing I want to occur is - Quicken does NOT truncate the payee name in any way, shape, or form when automatically entered. Is there a way to do this?
I see that there are suggestions for adjusting payee rules AFTER they have been entered, but I have thousands of transactions with this issue, across Venmo, which I use for various things, so a blanket rule is not the answer to this.

@ghin, thanks for posting back!
Unfortunately, there's no way to change how Quicken Simplifi provides Payee Names at this time. I think this existing request would cover what you're looking for:
If so, please be sure to add your vote and feedback and then follow it for updates!
