Other Spending Enhancement
I would like to request that the Other Spending section in the Spending Plan to only pull in transactions from the accounts in the Banking category. Currently mine pulls in transactions from investments and assets which adds a bunch of noise. I use this section to see what spending I have done that is not categorized or I might want to set up a Planned Spending category. This is similar to how I used the Mint uncategorized transaction section. I have tried changing the categories for my investment transactions and they are set to “Exclude from Reports” and “Exclude from Spending Plan” but they still show up. Not sure if this is a new feature I am asking for or a bug that it’s not honoring the “Exclude from Spending Plan”.

Hello @RobD,
Thanks for reaching out! To help clarify, are the excluded transactions from the investment and asset accounts greyed out in the Spending Plan? If you can provide a screenshot showing how your 'Other Spending' appears in regard to those excluded transactions in Quicken Simplifi this would help us to understand your situation. You can message me directly or post them here if you prefer.
Thanks,
Coach Jon

Thanks for the quick response. They are not greyed out in the spending plan. I sent a direct message yesterday with a couple screenshots. Let me know if you need anything else.

I just direct messaged the screenshots from the web application. The transactions still show up but they are greyed out. Again, I would like the option to only see transactions from spending accounts vs. investment/asset accounts. Thanks!

Hello @RobD,
Thanks for that information. This looks like something that you can submit an idea post for in this case. To be able to have the transactions greyed out in the mobile application like they are in the web application.
Additionally, you may also vote for and follow this idea post as well if this is more along the lines of what you are looking for.
Thanks,
Coach Jon

Yes, looking to filter transactions completely vs. just greying them out. I upvoted idea and posted the following comment:
I agree that this change is needed especially for users with multiple investment accounts and many investment transactions creating noise in “Other Spending” section. Non-spending account like investment accounts that are set up at an account level to exclude transactions from spending plan and reports should not have transactions show up in “Other Spending” of spending plan. The whole idea of the “Spending Plan” section is to focus on spending accounts and has nothing to do with investment transactions. Most users are likely using “Other Spending” to see spending outside of “Planned Spending” and to see if they need to categorize a spend transaction or create a new “Planned Spending” category. In mint you could easily see uncategorized spending only without noise from investment transactions. You are already filtering investment transaction out of “All Transactions” section so you just need to do the same in “Spending Plan”.
