Exporting transactions from reports no longer includes parent categories (edited)

Did we just lose the ability to download major spending categories from the Spending Reports? It now downloads all sub-categories, but none of the highest level spending categories that the sub-categories roll up to. Jeesh.

    Hello @lwyman,

Thanks for reaching out. I am not sure what you mean here. Can you provide a screenshot showing the issue you are experiencing when exporting transactions from your reports?

    Thanks,

Just a week ago (when the changes went into effect for split transactions), when you downloaded a csv file from Reports: Spending, the category field looked like this:

    Shopping: Clothing
    Dining and Drinks: Groceries

It showed you both categorizations that Simplifi allows for categories.

    Now all you get is:

Clothing (you don't know it's in Shopping)
Groceries (you don't know it's in Dining and Drinks)

So you don't know what category either Clothing or Groceries are in. Of course you can see the categorizations in the Simplifi report, but it now doesn't download both categories.

Honestly, someone in your tech department should immediately know that the field contents for Category were changed, and what the change was.

    Hello @lwyman,

I was unable to recreate this behavior on our side. I can see both categories and sub-categories in the exported report. Can you provide the prior requested screenshot showing this issue? You may direct message me if you wish.

    Thanks,

    Coach Jon

I see the behavior when downloading from the reports area, no parent category shown. I downloaded this file from Reports>Spending

For movie theater, the category should be Entertainment:Movie Theater

The transaction download from the transaction list is correct. For Groceries, I just use the parent category so both the report export and the transaction list export match.

The download of transactions from the spending plan and watchlist behave the same as the download of transactions from reports, no parent category.

Ursula - Thank you for confirming this. The spending report download used to include the parent categories, and this only recently changed. So I hope that it can be corrected on Simplifi's end of things. Otherwise the download from Spending/Reports isn't useful, since it doesn't include the appropriate categories.

    Hello @lwyman,

Good news! A fix is expected for this issue with the 4.20.0 web application update for Quicken Simplifi. Be sure to let us know when that version comes out if that fix works for you.

    Thanks,

    Coach Jon
