"You have already added all your accounts" message with Capital One (edited)

As of this morning (August 10), I am unable to connect with my CapitalOne credit card account. Authorized via CapitalOne, but Simplifi tells me "You have already added all of your accounts at this bank".

Is anyone else having this issue? Is it possibly related to the changes in the OAuth API?

  • Yes, I tried to reconnect this morning and walk through the entire linking process then receive that error. I have confirmed that Capital One is showing the linked application (and even unlinked it via Capital One after deleting the institution in Simplifi).

    Hello @BrianFannin and @rooster,

    Do you already have some accounts with Capital One connected, and it's not letting you add/reconnect additional accounts, or is this affecting all of your Capital One accounts?

    Please answer these questions about the accounts it's not letting you add/reconnect:

    • Has there been any activity in the account in the last 90 days?
    • Is the account considered an external account (i.e. are you redirected to a different website when selecting the account on the bank's website)? If so, what URL are you redirected to?
    • Is the account a subtype of a different account?
    • Has the bank made any recent changes to its website or sign-in process?
    • Are you the owner of the account?

  • For me, I had my Capital One credit card connected and am trying to reconnect. I am able to connect to three savings accounts in Capital One with the same login.

    1. Yes, there were charges yesterday.
    2. No.
    3. No.
    4. Not to my knowledge.

    @rooster, thanks for the reply!

    Since Capital One is an OAuth API bank, let's have you follow these steps to establish a completely fresh connection with the bank and generate a new authorization token:

    1. Navigate to the bank's website, sign in, and then remove Quicken's access from the bank's third-party linked apps.
    2. Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and make all of your Capital One accounts manual by following the steps here.
    3. Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank.
    4. If the connection is successful, carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here.

    @ClassicMigrator & All, I actually learned that this issue was escalated at the end of last week. We put an Alert up that everyone can follow for updates as we work on this!

  • Having the same issue. Capital One wasn't updating since Friday so tried to disconnect then reconnect and now I'm getting the "already added accounts" message. Super frustrating and renders this program useless for me if that account doesn't update. I have another Capital One card through pottery barn and that one is updating and connecting no problem.

    My husband has a Capital One CC and I have a Capital One Auto Loan, I was able to connect his CC but couldn't connect my auto loan because I have a different Login. Now his CC won't even link. Same error as above: "You have already added all of your accounts"

    I am following this alert for updates on connection; however, can someone assist me with the issue of having two separate logins?

  • I just tried to link my Capital One Card and it worked…. not sure if the issue is resolved for all, but it linked and imported for me. Good luck everyone.

    Connection was reestablished as of Friday. Mild irritation about the interruption, but glad it was resolved quickly.

    Hi [removed] I am having ""You have already added all your accounts" problem with my Charles Schwab accounts since Aug 12th. I reported to customer care on Aug 13th, they made me try few suggestions to add/remove but it did not work. I sent them few screenshots they asked for. But the issue is not fixed yet. Can you help with that?

    Anyone else having issues connecting their Capital One card? I am getting this error:

    Does anyone knows if I make the account manual if I can reconnect it once the issue is fixed?

    @jobrosseau Well, that's what I do when I have trouble. And it usually works to clear out the error. If that doesn't work, you can try going to Capitalone.com and revoking access to Quicken/Simplifi, but I find that isn't usually necessary.

    But I see there is a known issue with Capital Card credit account downloads, so it might not work. And I see that you have already engaged with @Coach Natalie. So proceed with caution. OTOH, if this hasn't been working for a while, having a manual account for now might be preferable to the !, which drives me crazy. And you could reconnect the account later when it starts working again.

    Oh, and be careful when you do reconnect the account to link it to your current Capital One Credit Card or you'll end up with a new account.

  • How long are these issues expected to go on? I am having this issue too and I will need to find a new solution if this is not fixed asap.
