Paying Bills from different Accounts
I paid my rent from a different account than usual last month and couldn’t find a way to link the transaction to the reminder. Is this possible? Now my historical reporting is off because it basically shows my “Bills” were less for the month since the transaction fell into Spending and it shows a gap in payments on my recurring bill.

I don’t think it matters what account you pay from, you should be able to connect the transaction to the reminder (recurring series). One thing to check is whether or not another transaction has already been matched to the recurring series for the current month. Once a reminder (recurring series) is used for the current month it disappears from the recurring series list.
You could also delete the series and recreate it. You may have to go back to the first month you started with Simplifi, or you may be able to simply add previous month payments to the new series.

Check out the comment below that demonstrates how to add a transaction to a recurring bill series.

I don’t see that option here.

Is the account you used an investment account? If so, the option is not be available from it.
Without the recurring link, I will exclude the transaction from the investment account from reports and spending plan. Then, I will enter a manual transaction in the banking account the series normally uses, mark it as cleared for it not to affect the balance, and then link that transaction to the payment series.

@DannyB - turns out there is a difference in setting as recurring depending on which account is used.
A transaction categorized as Fees & charges - ATM Fee on a checking account allow the following options:
On an investment account, the transaction categorized as Fees & Charges shows like this. There is no option to set as recurring.

.
You are correct, I should have noted your exception for investment accounts in my comments. If @Girlcalledfox paid her rent out of an investment account she would have to do some kind of workaround like you pointed out.

Yes, I believe what @DannyB mentioned may have been the original issue due to Simplifi matching the wrong transaction and then when I unlinked them, it disappeared. I had to edit the series by backdating the “next transaction date” and then it reappeared in the bills screen and allowed me to link to the transaction from the investment account since I am unable to choose the recurring option directly from the transaction details.

I am also doing all of this from the mobile app, I’ve never used the desktop version.

It would be nice if the reminder was still available once the wrong transaction is unlinked, for someone who doesn’t know, it’s really confusing.

Hey everyone!
For future reference, you can link a transaction to a Recurring Series from the transaction directly, which should make this scenario run a lot smoother:
I hope this helps!

Thank you, the payment was made from a Personal Investment account and it does not show anything “Upcoming.”

Sounds like your transaction fall under the exception - investment transactions cannot be linked to recurring series.

@Girlcalledfox, since it sounds like the investment account in question is being used to pay bills and things of that nature, have you considered changing it to a checking or other banking account type in Quicken Simplifi? This may give you better functionality all the way around.
Let us know if this works for you!
