Bill Paid Notification says "less than" when it should say "more than" and vice versa (edited)

Here’s yet another notification problem. I have a monthly Netflix bill for $22.99. I made a payment to the same payee for $30 which is unrelated to that bill, and it incorrectly assumed this was related to the bill series. That’s understandable, but the text is wrong, it says “less than expected” when it should say “more”.

@llamafilm, thanks for pointing this out!
I thought that this particular issue had been reported before, but I'm not finding an open ticket for it. I was able to reproduce it with one of my own Notifications, so I have reported it and will let you know when I hear back.
I hope this helps!

The recurring series amount is $19.99 The actual payment was $22.99 The notification that this bill was paid says $3.00 less than expected.

I have a water bill set up with a default amount of $100. This varies from month to month. It appears that when it's below the expected amount the toast notification text is incorrect. For example, this month it was $76.59 (which is $23.41 less), but the notification text says its "more".

Following up to add my experience is the same w/r/t incorrect notifications of above or below expected transaction amounts. Super annoying to look at, seems like it should be a simple fix, but a different fix from the merged discussion.

I got a notification today with the correct text when a bill was more than Simplifi expected on the mobile app.

I paid a bill last month and the amount was less than normal for legitimate reasons.
Simplifi connected it properly to the vendor, in this case Verizon, and noticed the amount was less than usual. However in the text message I received it said “bill was paid and amount was MORE than expected…”
seemed like the logic of the message was backwards.0 -
I believe this is the same bug: [removed link to merged thread]

The last two days I received the notification that my bill had been paid and that it was $5 less than expected. It was actually $5 more! This is no biggie as I already knew that.
My wife sees her cardiologist 2x a year and they are supposed to charge her $35 copay. We laugh about it because they seem to almost always charge $40 but sometimes it will be $30. They seem confused but she just pays what they ask for.
Anyhow I wonder why Simplifi interpreted $40 as $5 less than $35.

I seen users posting about this behavior before on the community. I have not seen it pop up personally.

@UrsulaA I wondered; I did a search for others but didn't find it, but I find Search is always iffy. As I say, it doesn't bother me. I just thought it was funny.

@Coach Natalie I wouldn’t know - I canceled my subscription and closed my account at some point while waiting for this issue to get fixed. A budgeting application that can’t do basic math isn’t the right one for me, and the timeline to fix was, in my opinion as a software engineer, way too long!

Here I'll check it as i have an example recent notification:
It says it's more than expected, this is right.
And to check the math:
$14.35 + $12.98 = $27.33 which is NOT $37.98 (Editing to note: it's off by $10.65, I searched all of simplifi and confirmed i have no $10.65 transactions.)
So, assuming nothing else is causing calculation errors (like a manual edit which i don't think happened), do I file a new ticket that the verbiage is right but the math is still not mathing?

@RobWilk, the bug reported here is regarding the verbiage — the notifications say "more than" when they should say "less than" and vice versa. That is the issue that should now be fixed. If you have a separate issue, it will need to be reported separately so troubleshooting can ensue.
Thanks!

I'll do that. As a superuser I probably should turn on my notifications so I can see stuff like this and maybe report it sooner. I didn't want all the notifications cluttering my inbox (which was happening), but at this point I'm pretty good at using GMAIL Rules to sort stuff into separate folders and can keep an eye on it at a distance. EDIT: Well, didn't even notice, my notifications were on — it just seemed like a lot less lately.

I am reporting that I am still seeing this issue with a notification from yesterday. My recurring amount is set at $50 and the amount paid was less than that but the notification still read "more than expected".

@engineal, thanks for the reply!
In order to reopen the ticket, I will need to gather specific data from you:
- A screenshot of the corresponding Recurring Series showing the Name, Account, and Amount (best taken in the Basic Details tab of the Edit Series screen).
- A screenshot of the Transaction Detail view of the transaction for $38.54 so we can see the Date, Payee, Amount, "Appears on your statement as…" info, and the Recurring section.
- The browser and browser version you're accessing the Quicken Simplifi Web App from.
- The OS of the computer you're accessing the Quicken Simplifi Web App on.
- If you use the Mobile App, please also provide a screenshot of the same Notification there so we can see if it's the same, or if it's correct.
Please also submit your logs via the 'Send Feedback' option:
- Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
- Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
- With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
- Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.
We look forward to hearing back from you!

QS has been such a successful tool for me that my personal finances have pretty much been on auto drive for the past year or more and as a result I turned off most notifications. I'll turn this one on for a couple of months to see what I get.

Hey again, everyone!
A fix for this issue has been officially deployed. Can you all keep an eye on new notifications to see if it's still occurring?
Fingers crossed!

I received this notice a few minutes ago. This was triggered by a refund that went back onto the account after making a return so it's not officially a scheduled payment on the account.
I'm not sure what comparison is being used to come up with the "less than expected" but $74.94 is less than $182.58 (74.94 + 107.64).
Anyway, I'll keep monitoring these notifications to see how it goes.

Any additional news on this, @llamafilm @DannyB @budgetj75 @carolinem @Kurt Schumacher @BankersHours @SRC54?
We are looking to get the ticket closed if the issue is resolved.
@DannyB Unless the notification is for a Recurring Bill that was paid, it would not qualify for this topic.
Thanks!
