Disable New Rule Creation... Opt In rather than Opt Out
Greetings! New Simplifi-er here, coming over from Mint.
I would like to be able to turn off the "new rule creation" feature as a default. I'd prefer an "opt-in", ie I select the checkbox if I want a new rule, rather than "opt-out", ie, having to unselect the checkbox every time.
I very rarely want to create a rule and having to transition from my keyboard to my mouse every time increases friction on transaction processing. Thank you for your consideration. :)
With friendliness! 🌻

Have you tried the steps on the post below (details on the link ending with Comment_5680)?
I used the steps outlined on the post and rules do not get created automatically for me anymore.

The problem with the check box is that if in fact you do want to create a rule, you have to check it on, which leaves it on for subsequent changes. My preference would be that the check box is always off and you have to always manually check it on to create a rule. When I first used Simplifi I inadvertently created a rule and modified multiple transaction, and I've seen on the forums people doing this also.

I agree with this. Proactively creating a rule is the way to go.

Here is an idea post that calls for more control over rules that if implemented will fulfill the request on this post, which is to turn off the "new rule creation" feature.
The Simplifi team seems to believe that the current functionality is enough. Some users will prefer the idea post above implemented.

yea, that's an odd UI choice…. A user will be creating rules primarily when they first start using Simplifi, and are not familiar with it. Also, I think destructive actions should not be the default, especially given there is no rollback.

"destructive actions should not be the default" - Agree. Also, implementing a default that requires opt-in probably will reduce calls to support stating that the data is corrupted by a rogue rule.

I agree with this, and also, an Undo feature would be quite handy in this (and other) situations!

Here is the undo feature request. I upvoted it.
Thanks @EL1234 for pointing out the need for an undo feature again. The only undo I see in Simplifi now is to undo a transaction change. The pop-up to undo shows up for a few seconds.

Thanks for the link! I upvoted it. I also think that when changing a single transaction, it would be helpful to have an Undo button that doesn't disappear right away.
