Starbucks gift card FDP-155
I just decided to set up my Starbucks gift card as it had around $40 balance, and even after resetting the password I am getting error FDP-155. Not urgent, but thought someone should know.

@RobWilk, thanks for reaching out!
An FDP-155 error means that the bank is temporarily or indefinitely blocking connection traffic. I confirmed the error with fake login credentials, which confirms the block. For this particular error, we recommend contacting the bank directly to report the issue on their end.
Sorry for not having a better answer, but I hope this helps!

@RobWilk, thanks for letting us know!
I would surmise that Starbucks does not have an online banking department since they're not an actual bank, which is who would normally handle these types of things. The Starbucks option you see in Quicken Simplifi should likely be removed since it doesn't work. Aside from removing it, we won't be able to do anything further from our end.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused!

@RobWilk Is this Starbucks card reloadable? I don't do Starbucks but I do have a reloadable UHC card. I just keep up with it as a manual account. Following up on something you posted in another thread, I am not sure that Simplifi can support every gift card out there unless there is some way to do Visa Gift Cards that would work for all of them.
This is not a criticism but just trying to wrap my head around it. My UHC card is a VISA debit card for example but the web site doesn't have download. There are so many gift cards, debit cards, etc. Thanks.

@SRC54 they were saying a few years ago that Starbucks was one of the largest banks based upon total gift card balances. However, @Coach Natalie totally understand if its removed.

@RobWilk Well, there may be so many people using Starbucks that it is worthwhile if Quicken doesn't have to pay for it. As I say there are several sites that service gift cards and debit cards and maybe those can be accessed by Quicken. Obviously it is only worthwhile if they are reloadable. When my wife was doing lunch a lot at Chik-fil-A, I just reloaded it and charged the reload to Fast Food. But I don't even know if she still has the card or whether it is still good.

Hi all, I do like @SRC54 . I have a reloadeable card/account with Starbucks. It is set up to automatically reload a set amount when the balance on the card drops below a certain balance. I categorize the transaction when it clears the bank as "Eating Out" and don't bother tracking the actual use of the card. If I receive a gift card from someone I add it to my Starbucks app and don't bother with tracking it in Simplifi.

Out of curiosity, what’s the benefit to doing it this way instead of just paying with your bank card for your Triple Venti Half-Sweet Non-Fat Caramel Macchiato with an Extra Shot? Do you get free drinks! Or is there some other convenience that I’m not thinking of?

@Flopbot LOL, I think you might get a free drink here or there. I got the Chik-Fil-A card for my wife originally so she didn't have to worry about cash for lunch, and she can use it on Fridays and weekends. I don't like to have outstanding transactions so I never use anything but cash on weekends except for emergencies. I am using cash more and more.
As for coffee, I like plain black coffee so Starbucks isn't for me.

you earn points towards free drinks with or without the card, but I think points earn at twice the rate with the card. Still I spent about $14 (including $2 tip) and got around 23 points, 100 points is a free coffee, 200 points is a free “handcrafted” drink (latte for example). T mobile this week gave customers 100 free Starbucks points on Tuesday, so I have like 123 now.

Exactly, it’s for the free bees. You get “star points” and can use them to cover all or part of a purchase. I don’t suppose there is a need even for that since using a rewards credit card gives you the same “benefit”. They don’t offer a discount for cash vs credit so it’s a way to get back some of the built in cost to cover cc usage. I started using the app because we used to get quite a few gift cards over the years and adding them to the app was an easier way to keep track of what was on each card and better yet allowed us to consolidate those cards into one account.

Yes, I have used a manual account for gift cards, but usually I incorporate it into my cash account. I do have manual accounts for Apple Store and UHC because those are reloadable and long term. Short term gift cards that you get for restaurants, etc. as presents, I usually just do off budget. Though I think I have given gift cards and gotten them and offset them; have to go check to see what I did. I love creative accounting.
I mused that we might be expecting too much out of Quicken to support every card out there but on the other hand, I do think they should connect to every bank that allows a connection between because they do advertise that. But some don't allow transaction downloads, just monthly statements. This is a problem.

It was really on a whim i decided to see if starbucks gift cards were supported, and it said they were, but 'they were being blocked' so they really weren't. Starbucks web site does have a transaction history. Also, I think you earn 2x the number of stars if you use the gift card, so there is a small advantage.
