Planned spending “Release for spending” bug
I have $250 planned spend for gas and fuel. I have spent only $173 and clicked on release the rest for spending. However, the amount defaults to 0 and it shows that I have overspent by 173$. I noticed the same for other categories. A few snapshots attached to illustrate this bug.

I released spending using planned spending tiles on the web app today without incident. Can you make the planned expense $173 and see if the issue goes away? I hope the coaches can reproduce your bug.

It’s the same result if I change to to 173$. There is 39cents left on my planned spending and when I release it, it says I have overspent by 173$.
If the exact amount is entered, then it says 100% spent and there is no need for release spending.0 -
When you enter the exact amount spent (I said $173 when I meant exact amount spent) in the planned spending tile, you said "there is no need for release spending". Does the available to spend amount show correctly after this action?

Yes. Available to spend is 0 if the exact amount is entered.

Good, then the total available to spend, left over from spending plan should be correct for November. Check your December planned spending to ensure it matches the series and not the November spent amount for Gas & Fuel

Yes. It is as expected for December spending. Hopefully, the coaches can get to the bottom of this bug.
Is anyone else seeing this bug on the iOS app?

Hello @Bgz ,
I attempted to replicate this issue, but couldn't get it to misbehave the way indicated in your screenshots. I followed the process you described, and got the results in my screenshots below (iPhone SE3, iOS 18.1.1, app version 5.18.0):
If you haven't already done so, I recommend that you log out of the app, then log back in again and test to see if the issue is resolved. If the issue persists after that, please try restarting your device. If it persists after the restart, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile app.
Please let me know how it goes!

Hi @Coach Kristina Thank you. I followed all steps above and the issue still exists. Here is another example. I am wondering if the amounts in fractions involved is the issue here.

Thank you for your reply,
So I can better try to replicate this issue, could you please provide as much detail as possible? Did you set up these Planned Spending items through the mobile app or the web app? Does it display the same way on the web app, or does it display correctly there? Is this happening with every item that has leftover funds, or only some?
Thank you!

These categories were created almost a year ago and I do not recall where I created it. I have not this issue in the past.
The above 2 examples seemed to work fine when releasing spending on the web app, while the issue still exists on the iOS. However, for another category Shopping, I had an overspend, so I increased the spending to $1600, which made it have $11.68 cents left over (on the web app). When I release that spending, it says I have overspent by $4.04 and this makes no sense. More snapshots attached.
Interestingly, increasing the spend to $1600 on the iOS app and then releasing the spend doesn’t cause this issue. I have no clue why different categories behave differently on different platforms and what’s the underlying cause for this bug..!

@Bgz , thanks for the reply!
I'm glad to hear that releasing unused funds on the Quicken Simplifi Web App is working as expected. It does seem like something strange may be going on with your Planned Spending expenses with the issues you're experiencing in both locations, though. I'd suggest deleting and recreating the problematic expenses to see if doing so clears things up moving forward. If the expense is a series, it will delete it for the current and all future months, and then you can set it back up in the current month.
Let us know how it goes!

Not sure if you missed the last paragraph in my previous post. The issue was replicated on the web browser as well.
What do you mean by problematic expenses? The issue seems to be how the software miscalculates the left over money once I release it in my planned spending categories. If you are calling these categories as problematic, that still doesn’t explain the bug. These categories have been working without any modifications from my side for the last year. So it points to something on the software side.

@Bgz , by problematic expenses, I mean the Planned Spending expenses you're having problems with, whether that be the issue you described with releasing funds on the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App, or the one you edited to change the amount from the Web App. If this fixes the issue, it would be considered a one-off and is not something we'd escalate. As far as the underlying cause, we wouldn't be able to determine that here in the Community. We, however, would love to try to resolve the issue for you, which could be as simple as deleting and recreating the expenses.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Let us know how things go!
