Add a detailed warning when deleting accounts that users will lose their historical transactions

It would be great to warn people when they are about to delete accounts in Simplifi that we most likely will only be able to get 90 days of transactions back when we reload the account. You could also point out in this warning that the way to do this is to make the account manual and then re-link to the manual account.

when deleting an account, there should be a warning such as:

“Deleting this account will delete all transactions (along with notes and tags) from this account. Please be aware that you will likely NOT be able to recover historical transactions when the account is re-linked. If you are deleting an account which you may want to re-link at a later date, make the account manual first to preserve your transaction history.”

Even though the help site states how transaction history relates to deleting accounts, having the warning will make Simplifi more user friendly and avoid frustration by users losing data by accident.

Absolutely, we should never assume that customers read through the entire help site before doing anything.

Upvoted. Oh yes, I did this once. I was new and was deleting the bank thinking it would just get rid of bank connection and leave the account. NOPE. It deletes every account connected to that bank. Luckily, I didn't have too many transactions in that account but had to start from scratch.

I think Simplifi should offer at least to let you keep the accounts. Maybe add a big Skull and Bones and !!! LOL

Voted for this. I've been using Simplifi for a while, so it's "well known" to me, but i imagine for newer users this would help.

Simplifi does warn you that "Deleting [name of account] will remove all of its data and transactions from Simplifi." And the user is warned that account deletion is NOT a fix for connection problems.

Perhaps this is a request to have more information presented in this warning about how to handle accounts you don't want to lose data and transactions from. Perhaps this is a request to make this warning stand out more maybe by using BOLD TYPE and possibly also changing the color of the font to red and adding "!" before and after the warning.

The additional information in this warning could include a link to this support article:

The additional information could also include a link to this article about making an account manual as @Membername suggests:

I suggest adding the following text below connection issues.

"If you want to keep the data in the account and disconnect from the bank only, please make the account manual. Follow the steps below (or link to the support article How to Make an Account 'Manual' | Quicken Simplifi Help Center):

    1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Settings.
    2. Select Accounts.
    3. Locate the Account you'd like to make 'manual' and click the three dots at the end of it.
    4. Select Make manual.
    5. Click Make Manual to confirm.

Once done, the account will be moved down to the Manual Accounts section.
