Issue: Some transactions do not allow me to mark as reviewed
Hi there,
I've been recently experiencing a really annoying issue which is that on some transactions, mostly when they are deposits that I was expecting and so had created a tracked refund for, do not allow me to mark them as reviewed in the transactions tab even after they are cleared and not pending.
As you can see in the screenshot, I will try to click the green check, it will initially show up green, but then I will get the error message "sorry unable to make your changes." It will remain this way and that transaction will always stay unchecked which is of course highly annoying.
Is this a known issue or is there a fix for this? I'm not sure what I could possibly be doing wrong. It's just a refund that I was tracking then paired the transaction to when I received it.

Hello @xnn7,
Thanks for reaching out! That is definitely peculiar behavior. If you use a different browser/incognito mode does this behavior continue in the new browser? You mentioned you've seen this for deposits. Is any other type of transactions showing this behavior?
Thank you,
Coach Jon

I've seen this occasionally but usually when I try again it works

The only thing in common that I can think of is that each time this happens I have (a) created a tracked refund in my reports section because I know I'm going to get some kind of refund (sometimes it's a check I know is going to be deposited, other times a Venmo I'm expecting, etc.) so that I can track that money in my future cash balance; and then (b) when that refund eventually comes in and it gets associated with the tracked refund.
I just tried opening an incognito Chrome window (was using regular safari before) and got the same behavior. Exact same error message. So that and a couple other transactions in my history basically just have stayed perpetually unreviewed

Hello @xnn7,
Thanks for the reply. I was unable to replicate this behavior on my side. If you try unlinking the refund from a transaction, does it then allow you to mark that transaction as reviewed? Instructions to unlink a refund can be found in this article:

Yes, once I unmerge the refund from the transaction I am able to mark the transaction reviewed. I suppose that's a workaround, though it is frustrating that I can't just keep them all sorted and merged.

Hello @xnn7,
Thanks for confirming! Does this issue also occur in the mobile application for you? This issue does seem dataset-specific since I cannot replicate the behavior, so if you want, we will need some more information to get this reported. We would need a screenshot of the refund tracker window showing that the transaction is successfully linked but not able to be marked as reviewed and a screenshot after unlinking the refund showing that the transaction can be successfully marked as reviewed. Feel free to send this information via DM.
We will also need your web browser and operation system, with their versions, as well as the version and build of your Quicken Simplifi web application, which can be found at the bottom of your Dashboard window.
Lastly, we will need logs to be sent to us. Instructions to do this can be found below:
- Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
- Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
- With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
- Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.
Thank you,
Coach Jon
