I have an auto loan that has transactions showing up in the Income & Expense report that don't show up in Spending. They also aren't in my usual Transactions list, as they are not typical expenses.

@alkaboy, thanks for joining the discussion!
The issue with loan payments showing as income was discussed earlier in this thread, and has already been reported as a bug:
I'd try seeing if you can exclude the entire account, as recommended earlier, while the bug is worked on.

This new report is soooo much better. Thank you for this. A basic feature that I could NOT understand why it wasn't available.

Nice update, a few additional wishes
- adding sorting options for the categories, e.g. sorting by largest amount
- remembering the state of accordions (collapsed or expanded), so you can set up a preferred view aand return to it next time opening reports. (this would be really nice across the app, especially for the accounts panel)

Overall I like the new report, but I've noticed one major issue with the data being presented. The 'expenses' includes transactions from Loan accounts as credits which makes my expenses seem much lower that the true number. To be more specific, the expenses includes credits (positive transactions) for my mortgage payments on the mortgage loan account, which appears to falsely offset expenses. I didn't know that loan accounts even showed transactions (I can't get to them from the transactions tab) so I don't know how to hide them from these reports, which would be one way to address this.

Love the feature. Would love to see comparison by amount and %.
But reminds me of a general UX gripe on this site - your carrot selections don't persist and are expanded by default. I want to drill into transactions one line at a time, but when I go back to the report I've got to roll up dozens of expanded category rows again to see what I want to see.

Income not sated correctly on the "Income & Expense report" because loan activity is included, is not categorized correctly and cannot be changed.
However, income is stated correctly on the "Income" report.
Bug? Error?

Kudos! Thanks for the new report. Like the fact that I can extract it into Excel. It's an excellent improvement. Like the fact that Excel extract has grouping enabled. Thanks!

Hello @MikeW,
Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this issue. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information. What kind of loan activity is reflecting as income in the Income & Expense report? Is this activity from a manual loan account or a connected loan account? If it's connected, which financial institution is it with? If possible, please post a screenshot of what you're seeing in the Income & Expense report. Please make sure to redact any personal information.
I look forward to your response!

The whole "Loans" section doesn't belong here. It adds the amounts to the actual net income for the month. For example. So the net income in the bottom line doesn't align with the "Net Income" report.
Other users are right, Simplify reporting overal is missing "percentages", either to show shares or dynamics. Simplify is too much about showing raw data, but not the insights.

I saw this the other day and got mad because it messed up one of the few reports I actually use.
It is double-counting things in income that were excluded, and don't show up in the report on mobile.
I have a whole line for "personal income" that makes my income larger than actual because it's counting transfers and mortgage payments.
Please fix this.
In other reporting requests, is there a way we can make our net worth graphs more / less granular? My favorite feature on Mint was watching the daily change. Something that shows percent change over the month would be nice too.0 -
When I noticed the report name change from Net Income to Income and Expense and kinda freaked out at first since I've been using the Net Income report from the beginning. (it's my most used report) But once I realized the report was still there, I relaxed. Please tell me the table under the graph with the rows and columns is new and hasn't been there for a year and I simply failed to scroll down far enough. There are some details there I need to dig into since it appears something changed between June and July of last year. It has to do with our mortgage payment. Last June our mortgage payment appears as an expense under "Home/Mortgage". It also appears as a credit under "Loans/Loan Payment". Continuing from July on, the "Home/Mortgage" amount still shows properly. But the "Loans/Loan Payment" shows nothing but zeros. If I switch the view to the last 6 months, the "Loans/Loan Payment" category doesn't show at all. Is this by design?
Which reminds me, I agree with others who say it sure would be nice to have a "last 12 months" button. Yes, it's easy enough to select "last 6 months" and change it to 12 (I do it all the time), but a button for it would be easier. Being able to set it as the default view would be the cherry on top! But I've noticed a change. You used to be able to "push the limits" of this interface and display almost 3 years, monthly, in a single graph. That no longer works. You can still select multiple years but the graph overlays them showing only 12 months with multiple Net Income trend lines, though the table will show all the months selected. I'm sure this report was never intended to support my "abuse".
Keep up the great work! As I find more I'll report back.

@MikeW, the issue with loan payments showing in the Income & Expense Report has already been reported as a bug, so they are working on a fix.
Thanks!

Overall I like the Income and Expense Report. However, what I don't like and foresee as a problem for others as well as a problem for me is that anything considered a "Transfer" isn't shown on the report even though I have unchecked the hide form Spending Plan and Hide from Reports. This leaves a false Positive Net Income on the report. An example is I transfer money to my Savings account. I consider that an expense and want it deducted from my Income at the end of the month reports. Transfers do not show anywhere on the report.

@jaywgraham, thanks for the feedback!
Transfers are always excluded from Reports by design. You can vote for the ability to include them by clicking on the following link!

I like it! I would like to see an average column before totals and also have the ability to compare from prior year. Thank you for the teams hard work!

Is there any plans on updating mobile to have similar income vs expense reports as seen in “Early Access” for the web? Reports seem too basic on mobile.

@c2clear, great question!
I have merged your post with the official feedback thread for the Income & Expense Report. I'm not sure if they have plans to add this Report to the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App, but if we learn anything about this, we will post back here to let everyone know. Someone from our product team may also post here to confirm or deny.
Thank you!

Hi, seems like there is a bit of an issue with the Net Income lines. I entered custom dates (just by selecting the dates manually), with a quarterly interval (happens with all Intervals) and it gives this.
I'm using Windows 11, Edge, and Quicken as an Edge app.
Reproducible.PS: It would be really great to have a value that showed Average Income, Average Expense, and Average Net over the selected time period! 😁❤️

This report is a great addition to your platform. I love that we can have accounts in the rows; it allows for some solid analysis.
I have a suggestion: the current report lets you click on a specific number (for example, gas expenses in May 2025) to drill down and see the transactions. That feature is phenomenal, thank you for that.
However, after checking the transactions and returning to the report, it always brings you back to the top, at the first row. This slows down the workflow quite a bit, as you have to scroll and find where you left off in order to continue.
Would you please consider bringing us back to the same spot we were in the report? That would be fantastic.
Thanks again.

OK, I believe I found a bug.
And it is related to TAG FILTERS.
So I just ran a report unfiltered Income & Expense YTD.
When you run the report, any report, the first time, the transactions that show are "ALL". Tagged, untagged, they are all in the report.
But I wanted to filter OUT my work related expenses (the ones I get reimbursed for by my employer). So I checked SELECT ALL TAGS and unselected WORK EXPENSES.
Well…. when I did that, the system also eliminated ALL UNTAGGED transactions from the report, which is clearly not what I wanted. I hope I'm explaining myself well here, but for this kind of report, when you select SELECT ALL tags, I think we imply that UNTAGGED lines are also in the mix.It would be wonderful to be able to select UNTAGGED lines, please.

Thank you. I just left my vote. A little discouraged since the request has been there - please correct me if I'm wrong - since 2020.

I really like it. You can get a deeper understanding of your spending and by account. I think adding some enhanced graphs to see some comparisons month over month and year over year would be a nice enhancement.

@juliecal73, the issue with the Net Income line in the graph when using a Custom Date Range longer than a year has been reported.
Thanks!

Quick UX suggestion for the new B&I report:
By default, I would make all dropdowns closed. People can dig in when they want to see more, but this gives the ability to check things high-level before drilling down. Also, you should consider adding a master dropdown toggle where the red square is to quickly open all/close all dropdown arrows

ONE OF THE BEST NEW FEATURES! Now that's what make Simplifi stands out! Good work team! Well done!!
Some small suggestions:
1) when we drill down on the amount, it will bring us to a page with the transactions (new page Nice1, we can edit transaction on the spot! nice2!). However after we view the transaction and going back to the previous page, all the filters, dropdown status (close or open), scroll bar positions are gone. Need to refine the month/category/line again.
How about opening in a new page? (Understand the report table amount might not refresh, but we can make do with it!)
Still, this is a good implementation! Kudos to the team who made this happen!0 -

Absolute game changer report! One thing I'd appreciate (or need to find) is how to collapse/expand detail for each section rather than one by one clicking down chevron…
For my needs - the report is exactly what I was re-creating in excel…
Thank you

Like the format. Really would like ability to filter by "Tax Related" as defined in the Category Detail (not a tag)
