TIAA Reporting Connection Issues
Comments

We appreciate everyone who tested the Plaid connection for us! Since this connection does not seem to be working either, it will be removed from Quicken Simplifi.
Since TIAA is fully blocking, at this time, we recommend contacting them directly to see if they will consider unblocking connections.
Thank you!

The TIAA connection seems to be working today.

OMG. It worked for me too. Today (Sunday, August 24)

It worked for me too (Sun Aug 24, 2025)! A miracle; hope it sticks!

That's great news! Are you all referring to the Plaid connection, or the original Intuit one? If it's the Plaid one, I can hopefully stop them from removing it.
Let me know!

I have had problems connecting my Tiaa accounts 6 months and there has never been a solid solution from 😔Quicken.

I'm still unable to get it to connect either way. Directly or Plaid
"We are unable to connect to TIAA Brokerage at this time.
Error Code: FDP-155"

I keep getting the same error message using all 3 tiaa.org options. Does Quicken have the same issues with TIAA on it's desktop/app version of Quicken itself, or is this just for Simplifi?

Me too, no luck, 6 months of it not working

I'm giving up and am switching to [removed] as of yesterday.

[removed - no soliciting of other products]

Worked for one day, 8/24. I cancelled my Simplifi renewal today

I too had been suffering through the connection issues, but had it work when I tried it at 11 p.m. Central Time last night. So, maybe it's just an off-hours thing, but this certainly is no way to run a financial management app.

Still not working…

I'm on with TIAA web support now. TIAA switched to "open banking" about a year ago - a different method for how institutions share information. Quicken Simplifi uses "screen scraping" which is not supported. I submitted a ticket to TIAA and a manager is going to get back to me, but they don't think they are going to do anything. TIAA is saying that it's Quicken Simplifi specifically (NOT Quicken Classic) that isn't supporting "open banking". The web support person says it's a security issue.

There are only 5 million investors with TIAA and something like 12,000 institutions, which would suggest that some portion of that population uses Simplifi. And only a handful of people have joined us in asking for a fix. So there's really no outlet for voicing frustration, since it immediately gets deleted off this board, and nobody who supports this community really has any sway in how quickly bugs and problems are addressed.

I am very frustrated with this issue which has not been resolved and no timeline or guidance has been provided. I am going to give it until the end of September and then I am going to have to switch to a different financial software service/company.

I have seen this issue reported at the Monarch Money reddit so it's not just a Simplifi issue. But it seems like they're able to get the Plaid auth working

We are unable to connect to TIAA Brokerage at this time.
Care Code: FDP-155
Seems to be a long-standing issue. Do you need more incentive to escalate this? Here is another person with the problem.0 -
Same issue- why can't this be resolved?

Same issue - code 155. How does this get escalated?

Hello everyone,
As mentioned earlier in this thread, TIAA is 100% blocking connection traffic. As the issue is worked on, you all can follow our Community Alert for updates:
We also recommend contacting TIAA directly to help make them aware of the issue from their end.
Thank you all for your continued patience as this issue is worked on!

I believe I have found a solution to this problem.
Remove the TIAA account and re-add it. But DON'T choose the first TIAA result when you search for the institution. Scroll down — for me it's the THIRD tiaa.org that appears — click on it and make sure it's the one that uses Plaid to connect to your account, NOT the one that uses Intuit.
This solved the issue for me.

I believe as mentioned early this works sporadically for some then will stop working.

Coach Natalie,
[removed - accuracy] I contacted TIAA tech support and got on with a manager. They are only having trouble with you and no other financial management tool (including regular Quicken). It's because Simplifi uses "screen scraping" which they do not support for security reasons. TIAA switched to "open banking" and they need Simplifi to comply with that security level. Our contacting TIAA will do nothing!

@LSMathTutor "Simplifi uses 'screen scraping'"
I wasn't aware that any of the aggregators Simplifi uses employ this technique. I'd be interested to know if this is true. I'm doubtful, but you never know.
