Hi @Norm6257, I’ve never been much of a tagged. I’ve been wondering lately how to use the tag field, what tags to use and what I’m missing by not using tags? If you have a chance I’d appreciate hearing how you use them. Thanks.Danny

Simplifi team, WHY is this not a feature yet? Do you know how tedious it is to remove tags one by one on 100+ transactions? [removed - disruptive]? This seems to me like it would be a SIMPLE fix. Please fix and update.3

@L.K., this post is requesting the ability to remove Tags when bulk editing transactions. This ability is not currently available in Quicken Simplifi, so please be sure to add your vote if you'd like to see it. 🙂

Upvoted this as I use tags to indicate which transactions I've reviewed, since flags and the reviewed field are not included in the CSV export.
There have been cases where I selected multiple transactions and mistakenly tagged them as reviewed. It would be a good feature to be able to untag multiple transactions at once.

I would also like to be able to edit the Reviewed flag in bulk.
Specifically, I noticed that whenever I bulk edit transactions, it marks them as Reviewed. Sometimes that's fine but sometimes it's not, I'd like it to show me that it'll do that and allow me to choose to either to mark them all as Reviewed, as Not Reviewed, or leave that field as is.

I want this as well. Or better yet, allow us to import transaction category so we don't have to use the tag, then manually filter by imported tag to bulk set the category. Geez. It crazy to have technology require you to work so hard to get what you need. Tech is supposed to work for us.

A potential workaround here is to delete a Tag in the Settings:Category and Tags. If the tag was has the wrong label, you could just rename it in Settings.
If you want to say, remove tags from multiple transactions, you could create a NEWtag, then Filter for OldTag, then add the NEWTag where appropriate, then delete the OldTag in settings. Not clean but workable.

This works when the tag you are using is not used anywhere else in Simplifi. I tagged some investment transactions, and my Mint import broke down tags into several strings when the tags were supposed to be one line of text. For example, I tagged investment transactions as Int to denote Interest Paid to me. The Mint import process separated a Mint tag, "Internet and Phone", into two tags "Int", and "ernet and Phone".
So because I want to keep the tag in the investment area as I applied it, I find myself deleting tags one by one for 51 transactions. This enhancement will be nice.

I imported my ten years of Mint data back at the beginning of 2023. Today I noticed that in the Transaction Activity pane, the Tag column for thousands of those transactions shows "NA". When I click on one of those transactions, the tag is "Unknown". I can manually delete the Unknown tag from that one transaction, but I have literally thousands of transactions to fix.
Please build in a way to bulk delete these NA/Unknown tags.

I had a similar problem. The unknown tags show in the transaction list for reports but not anywhere else. I thought I deleted these tags manually but I did not get to all of them.

To get the NA tags, did you delete the tags from Settings>Categories & Tags? I am escalating this issue as deleting a tag from the system should also delete the NA/unknown tags everywhere. Unfortunately, that is not the behavior I am seeing.

bump, I just wanted to bulk remove tags but realized you can't do this in QS. Its very painful to have to remove each on individually. I'm going to try my workaround above…

Any progress here? would this be escalated if it were a Bug and not a Feature Request? To me this is a bug, imagine if I wanted to bulk change/remove a Category but could not do it? Would that be a Bug or the need for a new feature?
I might be drawing a fine line here but Bugs are defined in part by event of an unexpected behavior, so if I can bulk add a Tag, I would expect to bulk remove, otherwise I'd likely not use that "feature" of having Tags knowing I could not remove them easily. Another easy analogy, if I can turn a light on, I'd expect to be able to turn it off. If I can't turn it off, that would be both disappointing and unexpected. I'd likely not use that light again.

Echo the need for this as high. I just spent way too long to undo an accidental bulk inclusion of a tag. lso, why can't we add rules to auto tag transactions like we can for categories???
I'm using tags to pull out the transactions I need for deductions so if these two things can't be resolved or added as features, I'll stop using Simplifi.

I love the ability to add tags to multiple transactions but I would also like the ability to bulk remove the tags. I often use tags to list specific follow ups (such as transactions that I need to get reimbursed for) and once the reimbursement is make I'd like to bulk remove that specific tag. Thanks for your consideration.

I'd like to see this added as well. This is native functionality in Monarch Money and something that should be fairly simple to offer to your users. It can take a lot of time to resolve these on your users' end when they have to remove tags from hundreds of transactions. I personally use tags as a way to track 'transaction state' for my spending.

I use the "Reviewed" checkmark to indicate transactions that have been reviewed, it works much better than tags since you can bulk edit and you can search for transactions without it (that's something that's really missing with the tags feature)

Like you, I use Flags for reviewing transactions.
But I use Tags to mark transactions temporarily for other purposes. I prefer tags because their names can be self-explanatory. Sometimes I want to remove a bunch of those tags, but not all of them. It would be nice if I could do that in bulk edit.
Flags would work well for this if they could be labeled, as in the following suggestion:

I prefer Tags because they can be named. Flags cannot. Tags have what I would consider not a great design as you bulk add a tag, but you can only remove them one by one.
There is another bug related to tags and have QS mark things as unknown. @DryHeat
IF QS adds names to Flags and fixes Tags, then what would the difference be between the two? They seems to serve the same function, both currently with design flaws.
