Mobile App: Bring back the ability to create Transaction Rules directly from a transaction (edited)
please bring back the ability to create a rule from the transaction on the mobile app. Removing the check box and this functionality is extremely inconvenient and should be part of Simplifi

I have turned this into an Idea post so other users can vote for it and our product team can review it. Our FAQ here has more details on Idea posts here in the Community:

Is this really an "IDEA"?
This functionality was working before, and now it is not.
This should be categorized as a BUG!2 -
@1280x720, this ability was intentionally removed, so no, it is not a bug.
Thanks for adding your vote here!

Where was this change documented? Can you please provide the reasoning of why this ability was intentionally removed? This impacts my ability to effectively use the product.

How can this be concern be escalated? Do I need to submit an official ticket?

I think I just voted for this. It’s terrible that the company would remove such an important feature without asking its users if that is ok. It’s so hard to create rules without the title of the transaction in front of you like you used to be able to.

I also voted to bring the functionality back, it is required for me to continue using Simplifi. I don't see a response to @1280x720 on how to escalate the issue. Extremely annoying.

If this doesn't come back quick I will give up on this product. Categorizing transactions is 90% of what I use this product for, without this none of the other features is useful. Creating a rule to apply to all transactions from a single one in the transactions view is the only practical way to do this efficiently.

This was a huge loss, please bring it back!

I agree this functionality needs to be brought back ASAP! It takes too long to go between the settings and the transactions every time you want to create a rule and it takes significantly longer since nothing is automatically filled in for you. This is not an inexpensive app and I just can’t understand why functionality would be removed without at least an explanation.
4 -
Why would they remove this basic, but essential, functionality?

I have struggled with not having a way to auto fill fields as well, sounds like this should be considered.

It was the worst idea I’ve even seen. Removing one of the best feature that was working perfectly. This was one of the main features I used this app for. I’ll switch to a different app if this is not brought back within the next few months.
What did you even gain by removing this feature?2 -
Can you share a link to the Idea you added? Thans

I was actually looking for an alternative product so I can cancel my subscription since my transactions can seemingly no longer be properly categorized.
As a software engineer with 10 years of experience, this is a ridiculously bad decision by the product team bordering on sabotage. It's crazy that product teams are still a thing in the industry when the norm is for product people to not actually understand what the product does, or how it is used by their customers. At this point the only reason for product people is to attend meetings that aren't worth an engineer's time, and make executives feel informed. AI does everything else now that actually moves the development of the product forward.
Product needs to understand that the only thing I do on this app is open spending plan, and look at transactions. THIS IS YOUR BASE CASE. It's very simple to not fuck up at your job, make sure the base case works.
Edit: I finally just tried to actually add a rule the new way and it's so much worse. It doesn't even let you select a transaction at all, it wants you to manually type keywords. In an age where AI agents are allowing users to do less and less button pushing, I can confidently say at least one person should be fired for this. If it was my product I'd be having conversations about how to replace the whole team. This is so bad. I will definitely be look for alternatives. Hopefully fidelity is allowing people that actually know how to deliver usable software integrate now.

Completely agree.

In the version of Simplifi (QBP) I am using I can create a Rule from a Transaction. I just click on the three-dot menu at the end of the transaction line and then click "Create a rule." This brings up the "Create Rule" page with most of the items already filled in, including the key words. Does that help?
NOTE: You and I may not be seeing the same Transaction Activity list. I have Early Access turned on in Settings, and this menu may or may not be available without that. If that is the problem, you can always turn on Early Access yourself or wait until this ability migrates to the general release.

I mean who seriously thought that having to manually fill in fields to creat rules was a good idea?! I created 2 rules the new way yesterday, and I was bouncing back and forth between the rules screen and my transaction log copying and pasting for exact match. Absolutely ridiculous. Your development team got this one wrong. Give up the flaccid defense of what was obviously a terrible idea, and bring back the functionality that users want, expect, and already had. If this isn’t reverted, or at the very least added back as an option, count me in the group of users who will not be renewing my subscription.

What a snarky response. You knew exactly what the user (and all of the other users here) meant. You call it a feature to greatly degrade basic app functionality!? You’ll have to forgive us for all thinking that in no possible way could such a a STUPID and cumbersome change have possibly been intentional.
1 -
How do we convince Quicken to bring back this essential feature? Or do you care that little about your customer base?

I'm on the latest version of Android with Early Access enabled and there's no way to create a rule from a transaction.

Sorry… you're absolutely right. I spaced out that this thread was about mobile, not web.
Anyway, the image I posted was from the web app. There is still a way to create rules from a transaction there, and I hope we don't lose it.

As far as I can tell there is no longer a way to create a rule from a transaction on mobile. This is the feature that was removed that everyone is frustrated about. As this is one of the primary functions of the app, its utility is about 95% gone with the removal of this feature. I'm willing to wait a bit longer to see if it is restored before I move to another product.
