Confusion with Planned Spending and Bank Connections (edited)
This is quite possibly the most confusing system I have ever used. I have used a lot of other budgeting systems and currently use Quickbooks for my business, so I don't feel that I am inept at learning this system. HOWEVER, I have items in my planned spend that linked to transactions in Jan. and then all of a sudden in Feb. they did not.??? I can't get my Carecredit or my Incommons bank to link because of errors that I have been fighting for at least a month! Getting someone on the phone to help is near impossible since they are only avail. PST. This was touted as the "easiest" system… and am starting to regret the purchase!

@shely6875, I’m sorry to hear about the confusion you’ve been experiencing with Quicken Simplifi.
I think coming to the Community was a good move! Help is available here 24/7, since other users are able to jump in and assist, in addition to the Coaches who are available during the day, 7 days a week.
The best way to receive help here in the Community is to create a separate post for each issue or topic so it can be appropriately addressed. Please include as many details as possible in each post so the Community can get a clear picture of what's going on.
We look forward to assisting you!

Worth noting, planned spending should not show transfers as transfers are money moving between your accounts and not spending. Also anything linked to a recurring charge goes under bills rather than planned spending so it is not counted twice.

Also, with synchrony/carecredit the company is transitioning all their customers to a new login system, and there may be your old and current logins, the old one might be the one to use here until synchrony has moved everything fully over.

- While I appreciate the "community" attempting to help with issues. That is not what I paid for.
- I have already attempted all the steps provided in this thread with the exception of using my old info on carecredit that I don't remember, because I changed months ago and do not keep old user id and pw's.
- Incommons did not change info and I can't get that acct to link.
- Now I am having issues with importing information. I had an Amazon refund that I was waiting on for $25.49 and in the interim, made my monthly pmt of $122.65 …. and SOMEHOW…. quicken decided that the pmt of $122.65 was the credit I was waiting on and it won't let me change it. There is no pmt recorded out of my checking acct … and instead is listed as a CREDIT to my Amazon acct. (THIS in itself harms my balances and I am now unable to trust them). I had to email support to fix it because I am unable to.
- I have submitted my request to cancel this service after only starting it mid Jan …… Of course I won't get a refund, even though promises of the systems abilities were not kept.
- You should have to spend this much time on a budget app attempting to correct issues.

this is a credit from Amazon that I was expecting:
this is a payment from my checking acct to Amazon (which does not show up in my checking register):

- Go to the transaction for your credit card payment and where it says clothing change that to your Checking Account. It should show up in the dropdown list. This will make the transaction a transfer from checking to Amazon.
- If it is linked to your Refund, un-link it. To do that, go to the 3 vertical dots that are on the right of the transaction in the transaction list OR open the transaction and in the top right hand corner where you see it linked, click the three vertical dots to the right of that and choose Un-Link transaction.
I am not quite sure of the verbiage for Refunds (as I don't use Refunds much), but it should be similar to that of recurring transactions. Good luck.

Are you saying that Simplifi will not let you edit the two March 6 transactions in the image you posted?
Have you tried to open these transactions in the Transaction detail window for editing? What happened?
Normally you would be able to edit the category in the first one and change it to "Clothing," (assuming that is what was what was refunded). And you would probably want to remove the exclusions.
And you would edit the second one and change it to "Credit Card Payment," (assuming that is how you normally record such payments). You might also want to exclude the payment from Spending Plan, if that is what you normally do.

this one seemed to work…..How the system linked a transaction that was supposed to be for $25.49 and deemed $122.85 "must be it"… I will never understand.
Thank you to all who helped.

Glad it worked! Now you can straighten everything out. I don't use refunds much but it is essentially a special kind of reminder so you can always delete or change them.
As for the vagaries of how Simplifi decides things . . . It is always a work in progress. It is supposed to learn as it goes. Your mileage may vary.
Simplifi has a lot of features and there is a learning curve. Good luck on your journey. 😀
