My mortgage was sold to a new company, so I replaced my previous lender with a new account in Simplifi this month. This displays as a sudden drop in my net worth this month, even though the debt originated when I purchased my home in 2021. It would be great if there was some way to reflect this in the chart, as it's misleading as-is.

@pterisaur, you can import account balance history to correct historical net worth data: https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/8912157-how-to-import-account-balance-history

I really miss the old option to show the breakdown of my net worth by account over time, not just the breakdown at a single point in time. It would be even better if I could view the net worth over time graph with both the option to show the breakdown by account and by account type. All of this over time. I don't want a single color total net worth over time graph and single point in time breakdowns. The graph of net worth over time needs to be a colorful break down.

Small improvement request: can we get the option to set a custom date range in the new Net Worth module? It currently only offers pre-set timeframes & All.

Other modules (like Investments and the Net Worth Report) also offer "Custom" as an option. Thanks!

I'd like to filter out closed accounts. I know I can pick which ones I want to see one-at-a-time but it would be nice if Simplifi could observe the "closed" status automatically.

I was in the new net worth feature, and I noticed apple card was "Excluded".

I went to Apple Card settings, but did not see anything obvious there. If I clicked the account on this screen (net worth page), it just took me to the account register. I cannot easily locate how to unexclude it — any advice?

    -Rob

p.s. If Apple Card is excluded because it is handled differently, I understand.

@Coach Natalie Expect more feedback. Now that I've escaped 'emergency pay down debt' mode today, I'm going to start being more strategic (planning) with my funds. I won't just be planning to send 100% of all available cash to paying down debt as I had been.

As I said, I understand Apple Card is "synced in the app," but the register is available on the web, so there may be reasons it's excluded. It also may be something somewhere where i just have to check a box to enable it, want to be sure if this is something i can fix.

@RobWilk You manage the included/excluded accounts (on web) from the menu next to the +Account button. It's a three-dot menu. From there, pick View Included Accounts.

As a side note (and one of the reasons I know where that option is), I've noticed that when you close an account, it excludes it from the net worth even if it was included before. This is not expected behavior in my opinion, as I'd still want the account's historical balance to affect historical net worth. That doesn't change because the account is now closed.

Ok, something came up which i would consider a bug…

I posted - elsewhere (https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/comment/67629#Comment_67629) that my Apple Card (and it turns out, Apple Cash) were excluded from the Net Worth report. Another user showed me how to add it back.

Well, thinking about recent activity, the Apple Card (and Apple Cash) were added AFTER this new net worth feature appeared. If i had 'include credit cards' checked, you would expect newly added credit cards would be included as well.

Separately, while the default view of Net Worth has daily updates, i noticed if i change it to 3M or 6M (or change it from the original one at all) the daily granularity is lost.

@RobWilk That's probably the answer, because all my accounts are accurately included including the closed Savings account.

  • It looks like the Net Worth graph is now only showing month end balances. I liked it better when you had the option to set the interval the graph would display. I liked being able to see daily for the shorter intervals.

    Was this a recent change?

Hey, thanks for your feedback! We're digging into the issue with granularity on the chart - it should always be displaying daily for 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, QTD, and YTD.

I've also recorded your feedback on new accounts automatically being included - that definitely feels like it should be happening.

  • Very happy with the new net worth graph. This has been the one main feature that I've been really hoping for on Quicken Simplifi for a long time. I'm very happy to see it here now!

Main things from my perspective that could be improved on this version (already it's working really well so these are not complaints):
    - Some of the graph's shorter timescales don't provide detailed enough information — 1 month seems to just be a linear graph from start of the month to end which is helpful but not as detailed as some users might want to see. Even on the longer timescales, a bit more precision and detail would look nice and would go a long way.
    - Nit: When switching between showing cents and no cents, lots of components on the page entirely re-renders which feels a bit janky. It would be nice if only the smallest component that needs to re-renders was actually re-rendered and the graph just animated to move to where the updated graph reflects.
    - Example, when switching between timescales, rather than rerendering the entire accounts panel, just rerender the elements inside the panel that need to change — the amount on the account, the change in the timescale, adding or removing an account, etc.
    - Nit: When switching between Net Worth and Assets vs Liabilities, everything on the page re-renders, similar to the last nit. The spinner changes places and feels a bit janky. Similar to the line above, not a huge deal by any means but could be neater.

Hey, thanks for your feedback! Your first point about timescale/granularity is actually a bug that should be resolved soon. For every timeframe 1 year and under, we should be showing daily granularity instead (see below). This should be resolved soon!

    image.png

But all of your points on re-rendering are all good feedback. Ideally, only pieces that are affected by a change being made should re-render, and the current switching on the charts is disruptive. Essentially, changing the timescale is just "zooming" in and out, whereas the current re-rendering makes you visually miss this. But I'll pass all of this feedback onto our dev team for review. Keep it coming!

  • I'm trying to migrate from the (painfully clunky and dated but robust) Quicken Classic to Simplifi.

Simplifi isn't as robust, but I'm trying to make it work.

One thing frustrating about Simplifi in general is that, at least for online accounts, it does not seem to allow the user to reconcile actual transactions with the online value (something that was great in Quicken Classic). Please confirm whether I'm missing something.

Similarly, and as it relates to Net Worth, it seems that the Net Worth tool only presents Net Worth values based on the downloaded value of each account, not the underlying transactions. As a result, I only see a few weeks of data and a flat line before (despite the fact that I'm painfully importing CSV after CSV of each account from Quicken Classic since y'all, mindblowingly, haven't even created an import tool from your own software, meanwhile you have import tools from Mint and other competitors).

@pbryn1983 You are correct that Simplifi lacks some features that Classic has, and reconciliation is one of them. There are workarounds, but Simplifi always has the correct balance with connected accounts since it works like Mint in that regard, and Mint didn't have a reconciliation feature either (if I remember correctly).

Here's a conversation that might give you a place to start (there are several others on here as well):

I agree that it would be nice if Simplifi could import Quicken Classic files. But it doesn't seem it will happen. It seems to be a business decision. Simplifi gained a lot of Minters when Mint closed down so that made sense for them. Cannibalizing from Quicken (so far) hasn't. That's my guess.

If you want to see historical data for your net worth reports, then you have to import historical data. Here's a support article for importing balances and historical data:

    https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/8912157-how-to-import-account-balance-history

Finally, you can vote for adding a reconciliation feature here:

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for jumping in - you got it!

Additionally, our team is exploring using transaction history that we get from your bank connections to reconstruct balances prior to when you initially connected those accounts, so you won't have to manually import (most connections give us transaction history, but not balance history). But that's something we're still exploring. Stay tuned!

When I go from dashboard to net worth I see a display showing peaks and valley at YTD. If i change the time frame to 3 months, the display is flat. I would like to be able to see peaks and valley at any time fram from the net worth screen

Hey, thanks for the feedback! This is a bug that should be fixed very soon. Once fixed, every time time range 1 year and under will show daily granularity, with peaks and valleys. Stay tuned!

Thank you for building this new net worth stuff. I don't have any critique yet but I'll come back if I think of any ideas… One thing I'll be looking for as I check this out is, can I customize and view my real-time gross assets total. Instead of a strangely fixed number that seems to update monthly.

Just a heads up - the issue with the chart granularity in Net Worth should now be resolved and live. You should now see daily granularity for all time ranges 1 year and under, give you visible peaks and valleys. Let us know if you're not seeing this!
