Pending transaction disappears

Using Web Version: 6.13.0 (65355/ab764330c8):

Today (4/7) I had a 4/6 pending transaction listed on my Transaction Activity for a credit card account in the Pending section. I clicked the "…" to edit the transaction, and changed the date to 4/10. Instead of it moving up to the timeline, or simply staying in the Pending section with the new future date, it simply disappeared. I even closed my browser and reopened Quicken, and it's still not showing.

Based on my many past unexplained phenomena, I'm pretty sure it's not gone forever and will eventually show up again. But who knows? Either way, having invisible pending transactions in the system is a HUGE problem that needs to be fixed.

I have many dozens of transactions per month in my checking account and am frequently getting erroneous warnings that my balance will go below the threshold or even go negative on a given date, but when I look at the cash flow timeline it doesn't reflect that. I've wasted way too much time studying it, trying to figure out what the problem is, only to have no choice but to cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen. I really have no idea why it does this, and whether it's related to the initial problem I just reported, or something else.

This bug is very serious. We use Quicken to manage our finances, and when I invest so much time and effort to be precise and I can't even count on Quicken to keep my checking account balance accurate, what's the point?

Check in Bills & Income to see if it went there. If it was recurring, it might also be in your Spending Plan.

You are right, I think, that it will show up. And there is always a chance you somehow accidentally made it even further in the future. I did that once and somehow it got put up a year in advance.

You can also check for it in the Reminders carousel (for that account - if you have a lot)

EL1234: "check for it in the Reminders carousel" I'm not sure what that is. I found "Bills & Income" on the left margin, and it has a Cash Flow tab. It's not there.. Is that what the "Reminders carousel" is?

SRC54 It's a one-time charge, not recurring. It's theoretically possible I changed the month or year, but not likely; I was pretty OCD about the change. But you bring up a good point. If one accidentally changes month or year, how can you ever find it? You're limited to 12 months on the cash flow timeline, and anything after that doesn't show. So if a year or more ago you enter a transaction with the wrong date and are way in the future, some day that will start showing up and factoring into your cash flow. If it's a deposit, you could really be in for a rude surprise if the cash flow line looks fine but it turns out to only be a mirage because it's counting on a deposit that won't happen. We need some way to look at all planned transactions, regardless of how far they are into the future. One tiny slip when you're entering a transaction and it could be lost for a long time, with no way to locate and edit it.

It is of course possible that it got deleted but I usually have been able to find future dated transactions in the Reminders Section of Bills and Income. Once though I had to change the date on my Mac to find one that was over a year away.

But I know that sometimes weird things happen to transactions. I had one last night that after a second download from my bank reverted to bank name and uncategorized after I had matched it to a recurring! I had to rematch and recategorize.

I was hoping it would clean itself up overnight and I'd see it today. It's a regular occurrence for me to update a manual account and have the balance miscalculate until the next day. But this particular transaction is currently "on the lam." If it doesn't show up soon, I'll contact police and ask for an amber alert!

At the top of the Transaction List there's a Reminders section (you might need to click a little arrow to expand it) which shows upcoming transactions and upcoming reminders (bills, recurring income, etc). I'd look for the transaction there (though sometimes transactions are missing from there, I'm pretty sure there's a bug with that at the moment). The other place to look would be the Bills and Income list.

Oh, OK, that's the first place I referenced in my original post. I didn't think of it as a carousel, but that's certainly the way it behaves! I get it. The referenced transaction had already past the date so it was listed in the Transaction List as Pending. When I changed its date from 4/6 to 4/10, it just totally disappeared and wasn't showing up anywhere. But now today, 4/10, it's back on the Transaction List, under Pending. Quicken Simplifi is so full of bugs! 😡

It's also frustrating how this bug report simply got removed from the bug report list. I don't know if it was moved somewhere or just is sitting in a "Trash Can" folder that we're corresponding in. No comment/feedback from anyone at Quicken. Just crickets. I guess they have so many bugs they don't have time to even acknowledge all of them.
