How to prevent spent versus budgeted amounts disappearing each month in Planned Spend? (edited)
I've been using "Planned Spend" to set goals for max I should spend each month in each category.
Works well, when in the month, but after the month has passed it sets the "of Max" value to be whatever I actually spent. I'd prefer it to continue to show the Max value in each category, so I can go back several months and see how I did.
Is there a setting to prevent the Max total from becoming the actual total at the end of a month?

Hello @Stu B,
Thanks for reaching out! You can use the "Release all unspent funds" option so the Spending Plan only counts what you actually spent, regardless of the original planned amount.
You can also turn on "auto-release" to ensure your Spending Plan always reflects what was actually spent each month.
I hope this helps!

I could be wrong, but I think you are asking for the opposite of what @Coach Jon is suggesting. Namely, that the amount remain at the target amount (the "Max") after the month is over and not change to the amount actually spent.
Stu B: after the month has passed it sets the "of Max" value to be whatever I actually spent. I'd prefer it to continue to show the Max value in each category
But I think staying at the target amount is what Simplifi does by default. If you just avoid releasing the funds, the target amounts should continue to show up for each expense series. Is it not working that way for you?
Or am I misunderstanding your issue?

Thanks @DryHeat @Coach Jon
I think you are right.
I must have turned on "auto-release" at some point, probably not really knowing what it does.
I've turned it off now. I guess it doesn't change anything in the past, so I'll see how April does in May :)Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I think you can go back and change the target amount for a series, at least in the month just before this one. Maybe farther back. You could try to change one. I don't think it will hurt anything.
