Balance Sheet Report unable to date select

All other reports have date select parameters - specific date, date range, or other common criteria like last month, etc. Why is balance sheet locked into only current system date? I enter all transactions manually due to low volume and wanting control and not accepting bank feeds. I can run a P&L or other reports by date, but must also be able to run a balance sheet for a date certain (typically end of month). It is critical for all businesses (or any user) to be able to reconcile bank statements to balance sheet for cash assets. There is no reason why the balance sheet report could not have a parameters for at least a date certain, user-chosen. This does not affect the underlying data and would allow manual transaction users as well as those tied to bank feeds to produce a snapshot that works. When will you fix this critical defect?
