Why does my Savings Goal appear in Spending Plan months past its target date?

I am trying to figure out how to use the Savings Goal feature but I'm struggling with it. I set a "general savings" goal for X per month through December, 2026, and set it to appear in the Spending Plan. But the Goal continues to appear in all months I can see in 2027. I have attached screenshots showing this setup.

I also made a four-month goal to essentially divide an expensive hotel room purchase over the course of several months before a trip, but all the goal shows up months and months after its configured end-date of July, 2026.

I'd rather not have a Savings Goal than have a Savings Goal which appears on the Spending Plan past its target date. I must be misunderstanding this feature, any help would be appreciated.

    Hello @tylermdunn,

Thanks for reaching out! To help clear up any confusion, Savings Goals will show up in the Spending Plan until they are completed. That is why you're seeing your Savings Goals in months after your goal date. Once it is completed, it will not appear in later months.

    I hope this makes sense!

It just seems odd. If I want to set aside, say, $100 a month for the next three months, I don't get why that means that for every month into the future I have to reserve $100. This is a short-term goal, not a forever goal.

It sounds weird to me too. I'll put it on the list of reasons why I don't use saving goals :)

The only thing I can think of is if you end up skipping may and june (let's say), then you might still want to save the $100 in july and august. Are savings goals optional in that sense?

If you didn't contribute as much as you initially targeted, but you don't want to continue contributing, maybe you can just edit the target amount so it matches the amount contributed so far.

I think that will cause the goal to be completed and to drop off your Spending Plan. And it also causes the Goal to reflect what happened in reality — you only saved a certain amount.
