Missing Transactions (edited)

I noticed a popup today saying something like “Sorry, an update deleted some of your transactions. We’ve fixed that and restored your transactions.” I didn’t think to get the screenshot and haven’t been able to recreate it by switching to different spaces.
Looks like it might be fixed. I’m not on top of things enough to tell if those transactions have indeed been restored…I didn’t notice they were gone. Maybe someone else who’s more on top of things will be able to confirm.

I added my vote. Hopefully this gains some traction in light of this recent issue.

Hi @Flopbot, some users are still experiencing missing transactions. Please review your accounts to see if any are missing and know we are looking into this issue. The alert has been reopened. Please bookmark this alert to be notified of updates. Thank you for your patience.

@Flopbot Did you not open your QBP file yesterday? The reason I ask is that @DryHeat theorizes that he avoided the bug by not opening his file until late yesterday after they announced they had fixed the bug that caused the commotion.
The fastest way to see if you have any missing transactions is to look at your March Spending Plan to see if you suddenly ended up with unspent funds.
The missing transactions have tended to be in connected credit cards and checking accounts.
I hope you find nothing amiss.

Hi All, can you please check your transactions now and let me know if you see them missing? We made an update on our end. Thanks!

@Coach Janean That did it; all 9 transactions that were still missing are now back, and I deleted my additions from yesterday. Great job!

It appears mine are all back too.

Mine are back. Thank you!! Again….missing transactions were all Chase bank transactions. Affected range was mid march to last third of April. It was not ALL of my chase transactions. It was just all of my missing transactions were Chase. Thanks again for fixing.

@Coach Janean I can verify that the two Chase Checking transactions that were missing earlier are now restored. My spending report also seems to be back in order. Thanks for updating.

I can also confirm that the issue appears resolved for me. Thank you all for going the extra mile this weekend to sort it out.

I see that a whole bunch of transactions still missing. I found them from filtering for transactions with Category = Uncategorized. The transactions that I see (12 of them from 2025, more if I go back further) all used to be transfers from either my Chase checking account or a Chase bank account, which are missing the matching transfer (ie: the transactions I see are NOT from those Chase accounts, the Chase transactions are the missing ones). I'm looking through the older ones now to see what those represent.
Edit: in 2019 and 2020 I have a lot of checks (Chase) which are marked as Uncategorized, I'm fairly sure that they used to have categories but I can't promise.

I checked back through my Spending Plans to 2021 to make sure I had no leftover Planned Spending.
I then compared my 2021-2025 Income and Expense Reports between Simplifi and Classic, and everything matched. (I did find one anomaly but it was a single categorization difference, which I corrected.)
So the only transactions I lost during this bug were in March and April 2026 as I previously reported. FWIW.

As far as I can tell, all of my missing transactions came back. However, the transactions that were previously categorized as "Transfers" remain "Uncategorized," while the corresponding transactions to which they were previously linked are still correctly categorized as linked transfers but the "Go to the other side" links are broken.
The only way I seem to be able to fix this is to manually switch the category to something else and then recategorize as "Transfer" so that Quicken can once again detect the (now-restored) corresponding transaction and re-link them. I've decided that it's not worth the effort to do this for the dozens of affected transactions, so I'm just leaving them with broken links.

For those asking for backup/restore, I think it’s likely a really difficult implementation and probably not worth it. For SaaS apps like this, the vendor has the backups of the DBs and they may have indeed used those backups to fix this issue.
This isn’t like the old days where a backup of your money file literally meant one file on your desktop that could be copied, timestamped, and just put back in for a restore operation. This service is likely multiple databases, with your data intermingled (but logically separated) with many other customers data. Indeed, the state of your account might be distributed over multiple separate services making it even harder to do.
it’s not great that this happened, and I bet the dev team will be going through a retrospective, looking at additional controls for the future, but they DID restore the transactions.IMO, they did not brush this under the carpet but they did go a light on the explanation. It would be better if, once they’ve figure out the go-forward controls and approach, that they issue a more detailed Root Cause Analysis and explain what they’re going to do. That will give confidence that they took it seriously and are working towards a better future.

Hmm so no one else is actually missing those transfer transactions?
Actually, looking again, I see that the Chase side is properly categorized, it's just the other side that says Uncategorized. I can't fix it by changing them to the right account or it asks me if it should create new transfers (that's why I assumed they weren't there), but changing the chase side to a "transfer" triggers a popup asking if it should link them, which seems to work.
I wonder two things, 1) if those transactions were really there last night already, or if they came back later, and 2) if that popup is new and will replace automatically linking which doesn't always work.

I cannot disagree with anything you say but it would still be nice if they could do it. At least, allow for user errors in deleting transactions, accounts, series.
Some sort of Undo function is needed.
Like you, I was impressed with the alacrity and seriousness that the Quicken technicians showed in fixing the problem in about 36 hours over a weekend. It should give us users some confidence.

I agree that an Undo feature would be nice for accidental or unintended user initiated deletes/modifications. I definitely would categorize that has different to backup/restore, as it would likely be soft-deletes, versioning updates vs replacing things, etc.
Wouldn’t stop a rogue process/script/engineer deleting a bunch of rows out of a DB though! 😀 You still have the same fundamental need for a system wide backup and restore approach, which they have already.

Okay, I successfully relinked the Uncategorized transfers. Also found a few that the other side was actually missing, going back to June of 2025. I think I'm all set now. 100% agree that we need a better system for backups!

Missing transactions appear to be back🤷♂️….however transfers are now a mess. Categories now showing as 'NA' instead of the account transferred to. When trying to fix quicken matches with a transfer months apart or not at all. Duplicate transfers being created and showing as pending transactions. Everything was working well and set up correctly until this missing transactions thing.
I spent a lot of time setting this all up correctly and this has proved to be a poor investment in time as Quicken has shown itself to not be reliable enough for business or important personal finance tracking.
The only reason i noticed missing transactions was because I happened to look at a profit/loss statement for April early last week. When i happened to look at it again this weekend the numbers were very different. If I hadn't happen to look at it early last week I would have ran with the incorrect numbers of this weekend. Again not reliable enough for an actual business.

I did notice some NA transfers when tryin to clean some up this morning, but undoing and redoing seemed to fix that.

Weirdly, the “Tax” category is no longer appearing in the chart in my Income Report. The underlying transactions were initially missing due to the missing-transactions issue and have since reappeared, but I’ve now found that income categories with negative transactions are missing from Income reports. I’ve escalated this to Quicken Support.

@Coach Janean @Coach Natalie @Coach Jon this issue is not resolved!!! There are still missing transactions in the bank account history. They are transfer transactions to cover the PayPal spending transactions. Some are missing from the checking account completely and a few show up but the transfer link is gone and it shows as uncategorized. I looked back at the PayPal account history in Simplifi through Nov 2024 when the PayPal account was loaded and the same 2 transactions each month are missing the transfer on the Paypal side as well as on the checking account side. I have 4 separate Simplifi accounts/clients that I monitor as a personal finance educator/bookkeeper. I had all the clients log out and log back in yesterday evening to the make sure Simplifi had all the restored data and although the historical data is better than what it was initially after the bug it is not completely restored.
I have proudly promoted Quicken Simplifi to these clients as a go-to app to help them manage their personal finances. They have provided their share link to me in order that I might help them stay on course for their budgeting each month.
My questions are these:
At this point will I need to manually enter each of these missing transfer transactions so they have correct data?
If one account clearly does not have all the transaction data, how do I know if all the other accounts are accurate without doing a complete reconciliation with each account statement for months & months of transaction history?
How do I know that all the correct numbers are in their historical spending and income reports without doing a complete reconciliation?
How can I trust the integrity of this data if I can't rely on the numbers being accurate?
I, and they are relying on this information to make personal finance and spending decisions!
I think this issue and the fix you say has resolved it has been a total failure by Quicken Simplifi! You have not communicated to your client base at large. Other than the pop-up that flashed on my screen on the Web log-in, that disappeared in a second, I couldn't find anything on the chat help option. I had to dig to find this forum and find out what the depth of the issue was. Although this forum is a great place to find information & state our concerns, how many of your clients can actually find this page. And yesterday I bookmarked this known product issue item and today that known product issue update is completely gone from your Known Product Issue page? What the heck?!? This is not giving me confidence in your product or the resolution of this issue.

@H Folk, thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience — we understand how frustrating this must be, and we apologize for the trouble this caused.
The Alert you referenced has been marked as resolved and is now archived, which is why it’s no longer accessible. Based on reports, the issue has been resolved for many users.
If you’re still noticing missing transactions, we recommend signing out of Quicken Simplifi and then signing back in to refresh your data. If the issue persists after that, please send over a few examples of the missing transactions, including the date, payee, and amount, and we’ll be happy to pass that along to our team for further investigation.

@ Coach Natalie I told you that I already had them all sign out of Simplifi and sign back in, plus refresh the data. [rant redacted]
I guess the old cliche stands well on this experience "If you want something done right, you need to do it yourself!" I'll have to rely on myself to get this done correctly!
Not happy!😣😭
