How do I switch Venmo account from manual?

I am not able to update Venmo. It shows I'm on manual update. How do I change that - I don't see the screen that gives me the option to "Always" or the other choices. The balance is not synched and updating it doesn't do anything. This is the screenshot of the balance … which is actually $1151.15 right now.

The word "Manual" in your screenshot does not mean that you are on the "Never (manual refresh only)" update interval.
It means that Venmo is a Manual account — not connected to the Venmo website at all. So it will never update from the web and all transactions will have to be put in manually.
If you want it to update from the web, you will have to link it to Venmo. Here's a help article on that:
