Why can't I make a report to view category expenses by month in the web app?

I'm using the web app to try to create a basic report to show how our gas expenses have increased with time over the last 6 months. When I create the report and filter to gas/fuel, it lumps the 6 months into one line and doesn't break it down by month. The chat bot tells me there is no way to make the report show by month on the web app. That's hard for me to believe, this is a basic reporting function. Can anyone shed light on why this would be unavailable?

    It is available. Maybe you are doing it wrong? I am doing it like this. Is this what you are looking for? If yes, there is a report type called Spending Summary - View your spending over time which gets you the information you are looking for.

    ah, ok I was using "spending" instead of "spending summary" and filtering to gas and fuel. By doing the same in "spending summary" it does then show by month. Strange that the chat bot gave me the answer that this could not be done in the web version. I figured that couldn't be correct.
