Morgan Stanley Private Bank Doesn't Import Holdings (edited)

Morgan Stanley Private Bank cash balance imports, but not the stock holdings. The account is accessible from the MorganStanley.com aggregated account view, but is not being properly retrieved by the Data Scrape integration.

This account contains the majority of my assets and makes me question the value of keeping my subscription.

    Hello @Jeff79,

Thanks for reaching out! To help clarify your issue, are all of your holdings with Morgan Stanley currently missing, or just some of them? Can you also try the following steps to see if this works in bringing the holdings over?

    1. Navigate to the bank's website, sign in, and then remove Quicken's access from the bank's third-party linked apps.
    2. Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi, and make all of the accounts with the bank manual by following the steps here.
    3. Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank.
    4. If the connection is successful, carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here.

If these steps do not work, please provide the following information:

    • The name of the account, as it appears in Quicken Simplifi.
    • The balance for the account in the Accounts List in Quicken Simplifi (this is the list of all accounts and balances on the left side of the Dashboard on the Quicken Simplifi Web App, or the list of all of your accounts when you select "Accounts" from the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App).
    • The balance for the account in the Investments Portfolio in Quicken Simplifi (if you have multiple investment accounts, you'll want to filter the page to just this account).
    • The balance for the account as displayed on the bank's website.
    • A screenshot of the holdings for the account in Quicken Simplifi (if you have multiple investment accounts, you'll want to filter the page to just this account).
    • A screenshot of the holdings on the bank's website for comparison.
    • A screenshot of the Accounts Summary page from the bank's website that has a wide enough scope to show the full page URL. This is the landing page after signing in, and typically lists all accounts and balances. You will want to take this from a web browser and not a mobile browser, as well as redact any private info such as account numbers.

We will also need logs to be sent:

    1. Log in to the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
    2. Select the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    3. With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key (Mac) or the Alt key (Windows), and then click Send Feedback.
    4. Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    Hi Jon,

All my holdings from the MS Private Bank are missing, though I see them when I log in to my Morgan Stanley account directly. I've contacted MS customer service and their software engineer was able to verify that the problem must be on the Simplifi side as you have a generic Data Scrape integration. I then went through the Simplifi customer service and they acknowledged that it is a known gap in the integration with MS that they only extract cash balances and not holdings. They recommended I file this feature request.

    Hello @Jeff79,

Thank you for the reply! I am not aware of a known issue involving Morgan Stanley holdings not populating in Quicken Simplifi at this time. That doesn't mean it is not possible, but if you would like, we can continue troubleshooting here and possibly escalate if needed. Have you tried the steps I provided above to see if they work for you in this case? Let us know!

That fixed it! Not sure what was different this time. I wasn't able to do Step 1, because MS doesn't list each 3P, but just has a boolean flag to allow 3Ps.

So, I marked the existing accounts as manual. Then I reconnected to MS. It failed with a 325 error, even after refreshing. I then Reset Connection, and then it worked. I skipped Step 4 and deleted the manual accounts.

    But now it's working.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully there's a way to streamline this, since I've spent more than 4 hours across 2 weeks to get this to work.
