Posting a transaction to a future date = no transaction

Hi, when I'm paying bills, I enter those autopay transactions to the date they will be paid, as a future date. Dating transactions to a future date equates to a transaction that disappears. This has been happening long enough that I'm surprised Quicken hasn't fixed it.

I don't use the BillPay functionality of Simplifi as the last time we tried, it was badly broken.

    To work around this, I just post the transaction to today's date, but then when the actual transaction comes in, it's unable to match the two, so I have to manually delete one of them. The transaction matching capability of Simplifi doesn't work very well, either.

    @Jim Nissen ,

    Unless I misunderstand what you're explaining, those future transactions haven't disappeared forever. They simply move from the Transaction Activity register up one line to the boxes under the Projected Cash Flow. If you scroll/swipe over to that date in the future, you'll find it there. When the day comes (June 4th in my screenshot), Comcast will move back to the Transaction Activity register and hang out in the "Pending" items until the transaction clears the bank.

    Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

    Would you rather they stay in the Pending Section?

    To add to what Chris said, there is a known bug that when you mark a bill as paid and postdate it, it will not show up in the Carousel, but you can still find it in the Spending Plan and Bills & Income. It is still there and will show up in the Register on the appointed day.

    I sometimes use your workaround, but usually I just let it go as it will show back up.

    And yes, this bug has been known for a while, and it does need to be fixed.

    Chris, thanks for the explanation. This behavior seems counter-intuitive for someone like us that just uses the transaction registry. Furthermore, a future dated transaction doesn't adjust the balance, which we use to track where we stand each round of bills.

    If it would show in the carousel it would also be reflected in the cash flow projection on the date of the transaction. Is there an official thread about that bug? I wonder if it has any updates.

    Hello @EL1234,

    I believe this is the alert for the bug that @SRC54 was referring to:

    We reached out to our teams internally to find out if there are any new updates, but have not yet received a response.

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks @Coach Kristina !

    I wonder if that is this specific issue. I thought the issue is setting a transaction in the future, not setting it as a bill reminder. Either way, December 2024 was a really long time ago, I hope we can get a positive update about it.
