Rethinking Rollover "vs" Savings Goal for non-monthly recurring expenses

Since its release, I have been experimenting on how I might use the Planned Spending rollover feature and recorded my experiment here.

In my use case, I am finding that this feature is not as useful as I thought it might be.

This along with some other recent considerations has brought me to a decision to do a refresh of my setup in QS.

This refresh will involve:

  1. Consolidate Expense Categories eliminating most subcategories and combining a couple of current top categories.
  2. Eliminate Planned Spending rollover expense buckets
  3. Set up one Savings Goal for non-monthly fixed and flexible "household" expenses and one Savings Goal for our travels over the next few years.
  4. Tie these two monthly SG contributions to two monthly transfers to real world savings accounts and assign a unique cc to pay these expenses.

The goal being to… simplify! 😎
