Ability to invite more than one person to Space Sharing (edited)
Has anyone been able to share their one (1) space to with two (2) people? This is what I see when I log into Settings > Spaces & Sharing on a desktop, but the " +Invite " button is deactivated; though still visible.
My situation: I’m temporarily managing finances for someone who manages the finances for someone else. All total, there are three (3) separate paid Simplifi accounts. Here's how I want to share them.
- Person 1 Account (Me)
- Person 2 Account « Shared with Person 1.
- Person 3 Account « Shared with Person 1 AND Person 2.
I'm not able to share Person 3 with Person 2 since I already shared Person 3 with Person 1. Clear as mud, right.

Hello @Flopbot,
Currently, space sharing is limited to one other person (see this article for more details). Person 3 could share with you or share with Person 2, but would not be able to share with both of you.
Depending on what information needs to be shared, perhaps exporting transactions, then sharing the file with that exported information would work?
I hope this helps!

Thanks @Coach Kristina,
I’m looking for the least amount of work so sharing a data file is a no go. Good to know that it’s not possible. Could you change this post to an Idea Post, please?

I agree this would be really useful. My sharing scenario is simple.
- Share with my spouse
- Share with our financial advisor
So at least need to share with 2 others, not be limited to 1.
That said, in general I don't think you should limit this sharing to any fixed number of individuals.

Right now, the only was to share a space in Simplifi is if the other person also has an account. In your scenario, both #1 and #2 would need their own Simplifi account and then you could share with them - not really what you're looking to do.

I would like to give access my financial data with more than one additional person. We are an intergenerational household and would like to share the data among 3-4 people. This suggestion is to lift the limit to more than 2 people per space to at least 4 people.

I haven't used the Spaces & sharing feature. What is the advantage of using Spaces & sharing over simply giving the log in credentials to the person you want to share with. Does the Spaces & sharing provide some kind of controls over what is shared? For example, the invited person can see the spending plan but can't see the Investments section. Or the invited person can see only certain accounts and account transactions. Perhaps the invited person is restricted from making any edits or adding transactions?
Is there a greater level of security that Spaces & sharing provides over giving credentials to the other person?

The Spaces & Sharing feature is mainly designed for people who want to gain access to someone else’s Simplifi account to help manage it; a completely separate account. Right now, it’s not at all granular (ex. access to this, but not to that). There are some Idea Posts for that, but no settings. It works very well for my situation where I am helping manage the finances for two other people, and I want their separate paid accounts to stay completely separate from mine. This is how I switch between them…
Also, it’s not intended for a husband and wife team who each want to share the same account. For that type situation, the best bet is to, like you said, just share the U/P.There’s no real security considerations per se other than I wouldn’t want my mom to be able to see my account and by using Spaces & Sharing this way, she doesn’t have access to my account. But remember, that Simplifi is only one way meaning that you can’t actually transfer money from one bank account to the next - in the real world - you can only see it occur.
Let me know if there any questions that I missed.

I share finances with multiple people in my household. It would be lovely if I could share my space with more than one person.
Additionally, it would be super beneficial if I could give them edit permissions.

Even though I don't need this now, I now voted for it because I think it's a good idea, and I could need it in the future.

This is one of several enhancements to Space Sharing I'd love to see, as the functionality is pretty bare bones right now.
Quicken has a real opportunity with Space Sharing to level up Simplifi's market competitiveness as a tool for couples who maintain either fully- or semi-separate finances long term, something that's increasingly common but that few personal finance tools are designed to handle, never mind optimize! It would be phenomenal if each spouse could maintain their own Simplifi accounts for daily use but have a combined place in Space Sharing for functionality like:
- Shared Savings Goals that both people can contribute to
- Pull big-picture reports that span chosen accounts from both users' Simplifis
- Have partial visibility like seeing category spending totals but not individual transactions to balance accountability & privacy, and more.
It seems a lot of Space Sharing requests already exist but are scattered around and aren't getting much attention, perhaps because few people are using Space Sharing due to its current limited form. It would be great to see Simplifi pull these disparate feature requests together into a more strategic vision for Space Sharing.
