Default account for manual transaction entry

When I manually enter a transaction from the main "all transactions" page, Simplifi defaults to one of my specific accounts for that transaction (I'm not sure how it selected that account to be the default). Is there a way to change the default account for manually entered transactions? I would like to set it to my "cash" tracking account.

Thank you.

when entering the data in the Create transaction window, you should be able to select the account from the Account data field list.

Yes, I am able to select the account. But I'm asking if it's possible to change the "default" account selection. Currently, Simplifi automatically populates the account data field with a certain specific account (one of my Fidelity accounts, for some reason—I don't know why that's the account Simplifi defaults to). I would prefer for it to default to my "Cash" account, so that I don't have to manually select that account every time I manually enter a transaction. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Ah, got it. I don't know if there is a way to set a default account. Mine "defaults" to my checking account. I do know that QS is designed to "learn" over time, so maybe by selecting the manual cash account QS will eventually learn to default to that account.

I do notice that QS will "default" to the first account in the list. For example, if I select "Banking" which shows all transactions for all my bank accounts, checking, credit cards, savings. and click on the add transaction + icon, my checking account is automatically chosen in the account field. If I select "Credit" heading the "default" account is the first credit card listed. Same with "Savings" heading. I don't know why yours is defaulting to Fidelity unless it is a Fidelity checking account listed first in your account list.

I created a manual cash account and see that it is listed below my checking account in the account list. I don't know how you would get that account to appear first in the Bank: Cash & Checking section unless you classified it as a checking account and named it something like AAA Cash.

One of the coaches may chime in on this with more insights about if and how to set the default account for manual entries.

From my experience, Simplifi learns over time. I enter transactions frequently into a credit card that lags downloading of transaction by 2 days or so close to month end. When I add a transaction, such credit card shows as the default now. Maybe your cash account will show up as the default if you use it frequently over the next few weeks.

Interesting. I normally go to the Account first, and then add a transaction so it knows the account I am using, but if I don't do that, it simply defaults to my first account alphabetically, which is 360 Checking. I'll keep an eye on that.

Thanks, all, for the feedback. I typically also go to the account first then add a transaction so it knows which account I'm using, but there are times when I forget to do that and enter the transaction from the main page. I will try to do it that way intentionally and manually select my Cash account to try to force Simplifi to learn that that's the account I want as my default. But it would be nice if there were an option in the settings to select a default account.
