Duplicate Transactions

    Hello @TheReal702,

To answer your question, making the account manual and then re-adding the account/re-linking gives the account a brand new connection, versus just resetting the current connection. When resetting does not work, we usually suggest trying this way. The specific issue here is most likely based on how the financial institution sends information, but I can understand your frustration. I would still recommend doing the steps I provided above and keeping an eye out to see if it works going forward as intended.

    Thanks,

    Coach Jon

Thanks for that explanation @Coach Jon, since it is different I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

EDIT: I went ahead and made my BofA checking account manual the re-linked it as you recommended.

The duplicate transaction is still there, and I see no changes.

We'll see what happens in the morning.

    Thanks again!

    330am update

    The duplicated transaction resolved overnight.

Two more sets of duplicates showed up.

Checking balance with pending way off again.

And now there is a CC balance from a different institution that is off.

    I'm done.

Since I paid for it, I'll check in once in a while to see if any of this has been fixed.

To those that tried to help I thank you.

Reading the many complaints here, and personally suffering through issues every single day, it is quite obvious that this product is garbage.

@TheReal702 Sorry to see you go, but I agree there are currently some troubling balance issue which weren't always there in this app (to my awareness). You certainly helped raise and identify some issues in your time here, and I'm glad you did because now Quicken, Inc. has acknowledged these issues, which means hopefully they will fix some of them.

I have seen the pending transactions counting twice issues (which resolves "Eventually" and is the acknowledged problem), but I haven't really seen too much of the duplicate transaction issue (it happens, just not often for me). The main problem for me is Chase outside of banking hours doesn't work terrifically (frequent wrong balances, because I manually enter transactions).

    Thanks @RobWilk

Like I said, I paid for a 1 year subscription so I'll occasionally look to see how it's doing.

My Quicken Classic subscription renews next week, so I'll renew and continue to use it because it's reliable and accurate every single day.

After reviewing this discussion, linking pending transactions to recurring series can cause duplicates. I recall someone reporting this a few months back.

I'm pretty sure I've had that issue, specifically with recurring transaction series. I've been waiting until transactions clear and that works out much better. (I did have one duplicate transaction recently but it was the first one in a long time, the weird thing is that the duplicate showed up about 2-3 weeks after the original transaction.)

Since @Coach Jon pulled me back here in a different thread, I thought I'd pop back into this one and let y'all know this issue is ongoing.

In this screenshot, you will see 2 transactions for Cafe Rio. Both were downloaded, yet one show as pending and the other shows as cleared. In this case, the one that is pending has a different payee name that didn't update in accordance with the rule I had previously made for this payee. I updated the pending transactions name, and THEN I was able to merger them, thus eliminating the duplicate.

The program is still quirky, but seems to be headed in the right direction. I seem to be getting less duplicates, but balance issues still occur every day.

    Maybe I should stick around…..
