Recurring Bill Incorrectly Shows as Late
Scenario ——
Utility bill (Nv Energy) paid $169 on their website on 11/7 - (bill is not due until 12th)
Manually entered transaction in Simplifi on 11/7.
When linked to existing recurring it shows as past due.
NV Energy has not debited my account yet, so it is not showing as pending on my bank website.
Is this normal until this transaction hits my bank as pending?

Are you sure it's showing as linked on the transaction detail page? You can always delete the reminder (rather than the series) if it linked to the wrong occurance.

I can only link it from the pending transaction in my checking account "register"
If I unlink this, I cannot link from the other side - the actual bill reminder in "Bills and Payments". It does not show up there as an available transaction. Is this because the transaction entry was made manually, is pending, but has yet to hit my bank?

This is because linking from the reminders list is broken and has been as long as the app existed. People complained for a while, then everyone kind of agreed you can do it from the transaction and that works, so as long as it can get done why complain that you can't do it the other way.
I thnk I'm one of 3 votes to fix it here:
Edit: this post is specifically about manual transactions, which yours might be if you entered it before it downloaded.

@RobWilk My complaint isn't about which direction I can link it, I really don't care as long as I can.
My question is why does this bill show as late (when linked) when clearly it is not.
If I'm doing something wrong I'd like to fix it.
If this is yet another issue with Simplifi, I'll just wait and see what happens when it hits my bank as either pending or cleared.

Hello @TheReal702,
I see the same behavior as you do with reminders linked to pending transactions in my Quicken Simplifi.
The reminders from my screenshot (above) are not past due. Two of them are due today and one of them is due on the 15th. They did not show as Past Due on the Bills & Payments screen until I linked the reminders to the pending transactions in my account.
To test this, I unlinked one of the pending transactions from the reminder.
Now, it is no longer showing past due in Bills & Payments.
I found that editing the transaction to show as cleared instead of pending also causes it to no longer show as past due in Bills & Payments.
Since this does not seem like intended behavior, I have forwarded this issue to our teams for further investigation and resolution.
Thank you!

It would be great to fix this as it is always disconcerting to have paid the bill yet because it is pending it shows up in Bills & Payments as Unpaid just because it hasn't cleared.
Thanks everyone for pointing this out again and hope they will fix it!

Hello @TheReal702,
I was able to review this thread and replicate the issue on my side as well. The three conditions for this to be reproduced seem to be:
- The transaction must be manually entered
- The transaction must be "pending"
- The transaction must be entered for a past date
If you can confirm that this is what you are also seeing on your side, this will greatly assist us going forward.
Thanks,
Coach Jon

Hello back @Coach Jon
The answers to your questions are in my first post, but to reiterate, here you go —-
- The transaction must be manually entered
- yes it was
- The transaction must be "pending"
- It is pending in Simplifi because it was manually entered. As of today, it still hasn't hit my bank, possibly due to weekend and holiday today.
- The transaction must be entered for a past date
- it was entered on the day that I paid the bill.
I hope this helps, and I thank you for looking into this.

Hello @TheReal702,
To clarify, when you stated, "it was entered on the day that I paid the bill", was that day a past date? We will want to confirm so that we are sure we are on the same page here.

@Coach Jon I guess perhaps I don't understand what you mean by "past date".
If you're asking if I entered the payment transaction on the 10th, for example, and dated it the 7th, no sir I did not.
Everything occurred on the 7th. I paid the bill on the 7th and manually entered it on the 7th.

Hello @TheReal702,
Thanks for clarifying. Can you please click on the past due reminder in Bills & Payments and take a screenshot of the reminder details window that opens up? This will further assist us in determining what is occuring.
Thank you,
Coach Jon

Sorry, I posted the screenshot earlier and now it's not here. <headscratcher> I still have it on my desktop if you change your mind.
