Better Automatic Transaction Merging [Edited]

I was a long-time Quicken app user, and grew tired of the issues with it, so we switched to Simplifi. Overall, it mostly works well. However, it's ability to identify manually entered transactions is a pain. It seems if the date of the manually entered transaction isn't just right, it struggles to merge transactions based on amounts and payees, leaving transactions in "pending" stage, indefinitely, and duplicating the transactions, forcing users to figure out which one to delete.

I can understand how it's hard to automatically match downloaded and manual transactions. As a potential quicker solution, I would appreciate the ability to simply select and merge the two transactions. My scenario is I deposit checks from bank's mobile app. I know everything about the transaction, so I manually enter a transaction (including images) with all the info so I don't forget it. Then when the transaction downloads, if it can't automatically match, it would be nice if I could simply select the two transactions and select merge which would retain my manual transaction info for category, attachment, payee, etc.

I upvoted this. I find that merging duplicate pending transactions works about 50% of the time. This is with my local bank that redownloads pending transactions on Day 2 changing the date on the transaction(s). My other banks (credit cards) that just download the pending once work out better.

Although I admit that just deleting the second one is fast, and for me, Simplifi is right about 95% of the time when matching the cleared transaction with the pending one across the board.
