split transaction with positive and negative numbers
When you get a refund or another type of credit that you need to apply against a transaction that was split this is not possible in Simplifi, [removed] can handle it just fine. Since it is not possible I have not even found a work around and as a result my reports (that really are missing important features as well) are useless because they do not show the correct picture. Then the whole point of tracking is lost. Huge issue just because of how splits are handled.

You can try putting either a minus or plus sign before the amount of the split (I think it depends on the category), it's not so intuitive but it does work.

@Woppel, thanks for posting your suggestion to the Community!
I went ahead and moved this out of Feature Requests for now so we can gain a clearer understanding of what is preventing you from creating splits that are both positive and negative. As mentioned by EL1234, the ability to do so is already available by putting a plus or minus sign in front of the amount.
Please let us know so we can best assist!

@Coach Natalie for one thing, I think that the process of adding a plus/minus should be made more intuitive. I actually discovered it by accident and I'm still never sure when I need to add a plus and when I need to add a minus, vs when one of them is implied.

I agree with this, maybe add a tool tip to prompt the user to add a positive sign for refunds/reimbursements for expense categories. Example when a friend or family member pays me back for shopping, I need to add a plus sign as the default sign for the expense>shopping category is negative.
Same applies to an income transaction with a negative sign (reversal of interest paid). Income transactions are usually positive.
