How to open the correct data file on startup?
When on vacation, my wife and I share a single laptop. It is a Dell/Intel/Windows-11 machine with separate Windows accounts for my wife and I. The shortcuts in each desktop point to separate Quicken data files. Double clicking the shortcut pointing to her data file correctly starts Quicken but if Quicken needs to update itself then it correctly accepts my password but incorrectly opens my data file. I own the Quicken subscription; she is a second user. Using the FILE dropdown menu to open her file is inconvenient because she is less than expert at navigating directory structures. Finding her data file under her account in the Windows USER directory is beyond her patience level. How do I fix this so Quicken opens the correct data file after updating itself?

Hello @Ken Stewart,
Based on your description of the issue, it sounds like you're using Quicken Classic for Windows rather than Quicken Simplifi. I'd recommend posting to the Quicken Classic Community for better assistance:
There are a couple possible resolutions for the issue that I can think of. The first would be, if it opens the wrong file after updating, close out and re-open by doubleclicking on her shortcut. That may be the simplest way to do it if that's what she's most comfortable with. The other option would be using the most recently accessed Quicken files from the File menu. Near the bottom, just above the Exit option, it will list the 4 more recently opened Quicken files, with the file that's currently open in the #1 spot.
The file in the #2 spot would most likely be her file, since that would be the file that was open prior to the program update.
I hope this helps!
