I am also experiencing this problem, has a solution been determined?

I have only been experiencing it for the past couple weeks. I can see the transactions on the credit accounts, but after I link it to a recurring expense then the transaction in Simplfi disappears and the recurring expense shows back up as unpaid.

Here are the things I tried and the transaction is still missing:

    1. Reconnecting the account
    2. Deleted the recurring expense series

I am using the latest version, 5.22.0 (39397), of the Simplfi App on Android.

    Thanks,

    Nick

@nneilson43, thanks for posting to the Community!

I'm sorry you're experiencing this behavior in Quicken Simplifi. I went ahead and split your post into a new discussion so we can take a fresh look at it, and potentially file a ticket for your case as well. The other escalation hasn't been resolved yet, so a new one may help bring new light to the situation. To do so, we need to gather some proof of the issue from you:

    1. The next time you go to manually link a transaction to a Recurring Series, open the Transaction Detail view of the transaction and grab a screenshot so we can see the Date, Payee, Amount, and the "Appears on your statement as…" info. This will show that the transaction was indeed downloaded into Quicken Simplifi.
    2. Take a screenshot of the reminder in the 'Reminders' carousel at the top of the account register before linking it to the transaction so we can see the details of that as well.
    3. Link the transaction to the reminder and then take a fresh screenshot of the Transaction Detail view so we can see the Series section and see that it's linked.
    4. Once the transaction disappears, grab a screenshot of the account register showing it's missing, as well as a screenshot of the Reminders carousel showing that the reminder is back.

We also need to know if the issue is unique to a particular Recurring Series and/or transaction, or if you see it with multiple. Is there any pattern or anything that you've noticed?

We look forward to your reply!

Unfortunately, it doesn't happen all the time, but I can when it happens again.

I did do some troubleshooting if it helps. Here are the things I did. This was done on a annual recurring expense which was scheduled for $203.00 on January 15th each year. This ended up being $248.00 on January 2nd. Remember, I linked the transaction from my credit card that occurred on Januray 2nd, but it disappeared after that, and the reminder came back.

    1. I searched for the $248.00 transaction and none to be found.

    2. I went ahead and created a manual transaction for the same amount, payee, account and date of the actual transaction. Basically this is creating a duplicate one, only the other is missing.

    3. I linked the transaction, but the reminder didn't go away.

    4. Here are the screenshot of the manual transaction I created.

    5. This is a view of the series. Looks like the manual January 2nd transaction got linked, but now it is still expecting another transaction that was supposed to occur on January 15th.

    6. When i changed the date to January 15th, then the transaction linked correctly and the reminder went away. But again this was the manual transaction and the one that came from the credit card is missing still.

    7. Here is a view of the current series with it linked this way and the date adjusted on the manual transaction.

Hope that helps. Based on this scenario do you think it is possibly occurring because of the date mismatch?

    Thanks, Nick

Also, just had a thought. The "disappearing transactions" happend to me 4 times, and all four of them were annual expenses. Perhaps there is a correlation?

    Thank you for your replies,

It is possible that there's a correlation. To clarify, so far, you have observed this behavior only with annual expenses that downloaded from the financial institution? Once you create a manual transaction, that transaction does not vanish, but needs to be manually linked to the reminder? Do you have any other reminders coming due soon? If so, please make sure to take the screenshots, as indicated in @Coach Natalie's post, just in case the issue does happen again.

    Thank you!

So far yes, it was on annual ones. But the reminder does not go away for the transactions I manually add unless the date is exactly the same. Otherwise it treats it as an additional transaction in the series. The transaction from the credit card linkage still is missing.

I do have another annual transaction coming up by February 1st, so I will try to capture those screenshot.

What challenges were there from deciphering the screenshot from the other tickets that the other person submitted? Just so I know what to capture.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    @nneilson43, thanks for the replies!

I must admit that I'm a little confused. Is the issue that a transaction downloads from the bank, it's not automatically linked to a reminder so you manually link it, and then the next day the transaction disappears and the reminder is back? That's my impression of the issue you're reporting, so I'm not sure where the manual creation of a transaction comes into play, or why you'd be creating a duplicate transaction. If my description of the issue is accurate, I'd say we need to let the behavior transpire naturally and capture the data as it does so.

What challenges were there from deciphering the screenshot from the other tickets that the other person submitted? Just so I know what to capture.

Can you elaborate on this part as well, please? I'm not seeing that you've contacted Chat Support or anything along those lines. Who is the other person, what ticket did they submit, and what screenshots did you provide?

    Let us know!

Yes, what you've outline is what I am experiencing: "Is the issue that a transaction downloads from the bank, it's not automatically linked to a reminder so you manually link it, and then the next day the transaction disappears and the reminder is back?"

Since the transaction download is missing, that is when I created a "duplicate" transaction so that I can link it to the reminder so that it goes away. However, since the original downloaded transaction disappeared, I wouldn't necessarily call it a "duplicate", but it would have been if it remained. I shared the nuance as it was behaving odd as well and possibly there is a correlation.

The other person I am referring to is the thread that you split this thread into, whom was experiencing the same thing:

    Thanks,

    Nick

    @nneilson43, thanks for clarifying!

Since it sounds like the behavior you outlined is different from the one this thread is for, you'll want to create a separate post to report the separate issue if you'd like to do some troubleshooting. For the issue with transactions disappearing after being linked to a reminder, please wait for the next time you need to manually link a downloaded transaction to a reminder, and grab the data I listed above:

Please note that these screenshots are best taken from the Web App, as you will be able to capture all of the details (the entire Transaction Detail window) in one shot. As for deciphering the screenshots provided by the other user, I don't believe there were challenges. If you provide an outline of the issue by grabbing images of each of the items I listed above, we'll be able to complete a timeline and have the details of the transaction that disappears, as well as the reminder it was linked to, etc.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion. We look forward to hearing back from you with proof of the issue so we can report it for you!

Ok, the other thing was just a nuance while I was troubleshooting this problem and I thought it would help. If you don't think it is related I'll just leave it be.

In the mean-time, is there a way to recover the missing transactions or re-download the transactions from the account?

I have tried deleting the series to try to delink all the past transactions to see if it would appear again, but all it did was just delink the transaction from 2024, and the 2025 transaction is still missing.

@nneilson43, the best way to recover the transaction that went missing is to manually enter it, and then manually link it to the reminder from the transaction directly, which sounds like what you did when you discovered the other issue where you had to change the date of the transaction to get the reminder to go away.

The other issue definitely seems strange, so I'd recommend trying from the Web App and if you learn that the issue is specific to the Mobile App, try an uninstall/reinstall. If the issue persists, please do feel free to create a separate post so we can take a look at it. We are happy to help!

Since it looks like you use the Mobile App, here are some mobile-specific articles on manually entering transactions, as well as linking to a reminder from the transaction directly (in case they help you or other users):

I look forward to hearing back from you on the issue this thread is for once it occurs again!
