Hello @RobWilk & @SRC54,
Thank you for reporting this issue to the Community!
Although Quicken is also experiencing an issue with the balance including pending transactions, it's a little bit different from what Simplifi is seeing since Simplifi is designed to download pending transactions and Quicken is not.
With that said, it is my understanding that before the Chase migration, the balance we received from Chase did not include pending transactions, even though these transactions were being downloaded. Since Simplifi is designed to deduct pending transactions from the balance, and since those pending transactions downloaded, the balance would match what was actually available in the Chase account.
However, it appears that Chase is now including pending transactions when sending in the balance post-migration, so essentially Simplifi is double-counting them. A change was made just last night to where connected Chase accounts will always use the bank balance instead of the balance with pending. With this change, it won't matter what's selected for the 'balance with pending' option, as we will now always use the bank balance.
To me, this makes sense with what's been reported here, and I think the issue is that the pending transactions aren't being downloaded until the next day, which is causing the difference in balance. Does that sound right?

Chase checking account pending balances are multiplied by -1
I have noticed two bugs regarding my Chase checking account's value:
- Simplifi is not saving my "balance type" preference for Chase bank. When I go to "Accounts > Chase > Checking > Edit Account" the value for "balance type" is always "Balance with pending". If I switch it to "Bank Balance (default)" then it'll save that preference for the rest of that session. But if I go back to edit that field again, even immediately, the value is back to "Balance with pending".
- When Simplifi considers pending charges for Chase, it treats pending debits as credits and pending credits as debits. For example, if I have $1,000 in my checking account and get a $400 direct deposit, Simplifi will show it as if I had $600, or ($1000 - $400), rather than the correct $1,400, or ($1000 + $400). This leads to consistently misleading checking account values according to Simplifi.
The bug in #2 goes away if I switch the "balance type" preference to "Bank Balance (default)". Please let me know if you need any more details. These bugs are consistent and repeatable.

- "Chase" is specifically hard coded to the right setting, that happened years ago. Some banks they know the right setting. This may have changed, but it was true as of 1-2 years ago.
- If that's the case, i believe it's new. My Chase checking account currently only has a manual (meaning i entered it) transaction on my pending transactions, no transactions are actually pending at the bank. Here's what mine looks like:
Again, this transaction was auto-entered when synced with the Apple card (and the description is not 100% right, technically it was payment for apple news charges), but if i went to Chase.com it wouldn't have this transaction in the pending transaction list yet. This transaction is right, though, and i've never seen it wrong recently yet.

Hello @tylermdunn,
Thanks for reaching out! I am not aware of a setting that should be permanently stuck the way you are reporting this setting is currently. If you use another browser/incognito mode are you then able to change the setting and have it stick?
As for your second point, that is certainly a strange issue. I would suggest trying a fresh connection. You can make the accounts manual and then use the Add Account flow to get a completely fresh connection. If the connection is successful, you'll then want to link the accounts to your existing Quicken Simplifi accounts. Let us know how that goes!

@Coach Jon Here's the topic where I was told "A change was made just last night to where connected Chase accounts will always use the bank balance instead of the balance with pending.":
Mind you, this was 2022.

I've mentioned before that the fact that this setting is hardcoded should be stated in the window where the user (thinks that) they can edit it. The dropdown should be grayed out and there should be a note explaining why.
Every time someone reports this issue with their Chase account we go through the same thing.

Thank you all. I reset the connection to Chase from my Accounts menu and it seems that it's now displaying the values, both pending and not, correctly!
